I gve my babies homemade food half the time and jars or tins of babyfood the rest of the time - to try and give them a variety of food. The main brand I use of baby food is Heinz. Heinz baby food comes in dry baby food in packets, cans and jars. They have a variety of breakfast food, savoury and desert.

I will give you some info and tell you what my babies think of some of the stage one food (4 month onwards) that heinz do.

1. Heinz Farleys gluten free rusks.

Ingredients: flours (rice, soya), maize starch, potato starch, sugar, vegetable oil, milk protein, calcium carbonate, emulsifier (lecithin), niacin (vitamin B3), iron, thiamin (vitamin b1), ribolavin (vitamin b2), vitamin D.

How to serve: You can use these as a weaning food from 4 month mixed with either milk or water or as afinger food for older babies.

What we think: I dont think these are as nice as original rusk but Jack likes them though he too prefers the original, I dont think Lillie was very impressed with these as a finger food though she will eat them if mixed with milk or water.

2. Pasta bolognese

Ingredients: tomatoes, water, pasta (made from wheat), beef, carrots, cornflour, herb extracts, yeast extract, natural flavourings, vegetable oil, iron sulphate.

How to serve: Serve straight from the can warm or cold.

What we think: Both my babies like this when warmed up, it is Lillie's favourite at the moment. They will eat a full can of this each they like it that much!

3. Baked beans and bacon

Ingredients: Tomatoes, water, haricot beans, skimmed milk, bacon, cornflour, herb extract, vegetable oil, yeast extract, iron sulphate, spice extract.

How to serve: serve straight from the can warm or cold.

What we think: Both my babies like this one but it is Jack's favourite. They will also eat a full can of this each.

4. Fruit medley desert

Ingredients: apples, pineapple juice from concentrate, orange juice from concentrate, water, bananas, rice flour, concentrated lemon juice, vitamin C

How to serve: straight from the can warm or cold.

What we think: My babies dont mind this though they will only share a can between them. They will eat this warm by itself but they prefer it mixed with ready brek or weetabix.

---Mum's own 'just add' purees---

5. Bollognese sauce

ingredients: tomatoes, onions, cornflour, vegetable oil, natural flavourings (contains celery)

How to serve: Stir with homemade pureed cooked veg, pasta baby rice or combine with other 'just add' purees

What we think: Both my babies like this.
I made: bolognese sauce, mum's own 'just add' beef puree, potatoes and grated cheese. They loved it.

6a. Turkey puree

ingredients: water, turkey, cornflour, vegetable oil, concentrated lemon juice

6b. Chicken puree

ingredients: water, chicken, cornflour, vegetable oil, concentrated lemon juice

6c. Cod with potatoes

ingredients: water, cod, potato, cornflour, rice flour, vegetable oil, concentrated lemon juice

6d. Beef puree

ingredients: water, beef, cornflour, vegetable oil, concentrated lemon juice

How to serve: Mix with homemade vegetable puree, pasta or baby rice.

What we think: My babies love these. I think the are great because I can give them the goodness of vegetables then add the puree so it doesn't taste as bland.

There are many more flavours in the heinz range and my babies like most of them though there are some they dont like. I'm not sure about the deserts such as strawberry cheesecake and chocolate pudding because I am trying to keep the babies off things like that for now.

Hope this helped a little

Claire x

These are handy to have if you've not got enough time to make anything. It would have been nice if you could have added what they tasted like too. x x

I prefer homecooked meals but sometimes when you're out or just too tired, jars are great. I would rather have read more detail about one area of their products rather than a list. Cx
