When my daughter was born late last year I decided to try and feed her with home made food as much as possible, I succeded in this for a majority of the time however since both myself and my wife work almost full time there have been several times we have had to resourt to "shop bought" food.
I'm not sure whether it was because my daughter was used to the home made food, however nearly every time we've fed her with Heinz it has been a real struggle. The food is over processed causing it to be bland in colour, texture and taste.
It may take a little more effort to make food yourself, however it is well worth it. By making large batches and freezing them in ice cube trays and jars I now have a substantial stock of very tasty baby food in the freezer, and as my daughter has progressed I've been able to regulate the texture of her food so she is now eating very course meals.

Advantages: Variety, knowledge that you are giving your child good food, kids love it Disadvantages: glass jars, price, heating up the jars,(my kids refused to eat it if cold!!)
