I have always used Heinz Tomato Ketchup as it is a brand I trust and I feel it has always been miles ahead in terms of taste than other brands. My children also love ketchup and my son, in particular, would have it with evey meal if I allowed it. These days there is so much emphasis on how well we are, or are not feeding our children and when I saw this reduced salt and sugar variety I knew I had to make the swap for their sakes.

However, I am also aware that my children are very committed to the things they eat and it is incredibly hard to get even the smallest change past them without them reaslising it so I was a little worried that the taste would be noticeably different and they would realise it was something new. Children sadly are not so concerned with what is better for them but are very much more interested in how good it tastes.

This sauce which comes in a squeezy (top down) bottle which makes using dispensing it much easier has 30% less salt and sugar than the original and is a thick vibrant red colour that is still packed with the goodness of sun ripened tomatoes (of which there are 144g of per 100g of ketchup) and passed the taste test as my children didn't seem to notice the difference which was a relief to me.

This ketchup contains no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, sweeters and naturally contains Luycopene which is an antioxidant and therefore there is something in there that is good for you!

So much sugar and salt is hidden in foods that it is great when a product comes out and actively reduces these levels and states by how much on its product.

A 550g squeezy bottle costs £1.79 from Tesco.

It's about time they reduced it as well; there is a shockingly high content in the original!
