These eye pencils come in several different colours (I have the black, brown, and violet), and they have just come up with a new "shimmering" line. It has the appearence of a normal eye pencil, with golden embossed HR logo and a really nice golden metal capsule on top. Really classy and expensive looking.
The texture of both the black and brown pencils is very, very rich. It glides on, leaving loads of colour on. Very silky indeed - not at all like some other pencils that pull and irritate your skin.
The violet is not quite so rich and "thick looking", and I believe that has to do with the colour - some colours are just easier to handle, I suppose. Still, it's the best violet pencil I've ever tried: the colour is vibrant and really beautiful.
I use these on my top and lower eye lids, close to the lash lines, and then smudge and smoke away the line with a rubber tip makeup brush. Very easy and effective: all done in under 5 minutes - certainly much easier than powder eye shadow.
The results last very long, but I do put on a good moisturizer before, which helps. It does sometimes get stuck on those very fine expression lines, but it's very easy to correct it. Again, a good moisturizer is an important step.
I wear contacts, so it is very important for me that makeup stays where it is supposed to, without flaking or running: this product has never given me any problems. It is very gentle and non-irritant.
When you want to get rid of it at the end of your day (or night...), do yourself a favour and use a good makeup remover. I personally prefer a water activated one because I always remove my makeup in the shower. Remember, this stuff has some serious staying power, and for the sake of your skin, you do want to get it all out. It does not give you "racoon eyes", though: it will come out easily if you use the right product.
I will always repurchase these pencils. They are so worth it! They cost around EURO 12.0, but they last forever. The skin on the eye area is just so sensitive that I don't really mind spending a little more and giving it the quality it deserves. I'm sure I'll thank myself when I get older...
UPDATE: I went to the HR stand today to check out the new "shimmering" line. I thought I wouldn't like it because I thought it was going to be too... well... shimmering. But no! The shimmer is subtle, not glittery, and the shades are beautiful. I got the Turquoise Shimmer (no.2), and it looks absolutely stunning on my blue eyes (anyone with blue eyes knows how difficult it is to find a good, flattering blue...). It will look wonderful with tanned skin, I'm sure - can't wait for summer! Oh, yes - it now cost me EURO 13.50. Oh well, it's still worth it.
I've never tried these before but they do sound good. I wear contacts too and hate it when you take them out and have a black scum over them from eyeliner or mascara which has run slightly.....yuck!!! ;0)

It *is* really hard to find an eye pencil with that important texture - too many *do* pull at your skin, as you say. So this sounds ideal. x
