My name is Martin Scholes. I like writing reviews on Ciao. I am married, we have a cockatiel and a cat. And a growing African Grey. Who orders the cat around!

Hemera Photo Objects 5000 is a really wonderful product. Whilst there are other photographic disks available, it has to be said that Hemera Photo Objects 5000 is probably one of the few that are generally available to the public that is really any good.
I bought three sets of photo CDs for my workplace. We need a large number of photographs for a variety of projects and products we are involved with and as we need them quickly we need them either copyright free or with cleared copyright on them. So, Hemera Photo Objects 5000 (and the other two) should have been ideal for the job.
I'll call the other sets Exhibit A and Exhibit B.
Exhibit A was filled with ancient and blurry images that appeared to have originated in an ancient box Brownie camera which was not really up to the job of providing many useable images. Exhibit A was also bedevilled with a rather shoddy catalogue and viewing system.
Exhibit B was a little better, but the images were lumped into ridiculously vague categories such as: "Distant" "views" and the like. And as they were all numbered rather than being named, the rather dodgy catalogue was even worse than that of Exhibit A. Say what you like about Exhibit A, at least you knew what pictures were supposed to be about!
What of Exhibit C. Sorry! I got carried away there! What about Hemnera Photo Objects 5000? Wow! What about Hemera Photo Shop 5000?! It is easy to install and use is self-explanatory.
The photos are shown as clear, easy-to-view thumbnails. They also list up the name of the photograph which tells you what it is. Then there is a description of what the photograph is which is very detailed. Let me give you an example:
Chick is the name of the photograph. This is then followed by a detailed description of what it is: "animals" (the category) followed by: "Cute Easter yellow baby ducklings animals chicks 3"
When you click on an image it brings the image up in a screen which asks you what you wish to do next? You can export the image to a word processor, to slide presentation software in the following formats: PowerPoint, Corel Presentation, Lotus Freelance or Harvard Graphics, to a suitable graphics package or to an image format in one of 16 different types, some of which I had not heard of before.
You can list the images in all categories or by type. There are dozens of different categories, including medicine, animals, children, nautical, photography, etc., etc.
The search function is very easy to use. You can search in all categories or in specific categories, instead. The key word search is intelligent in design and very helpful indeed in assisting you to source the image that you want.
There are also Hemera Photo Fonts available, which gives fonts with the letters made up of photo images. I will not pretend to understand this section (it's not something I think I would ever need) but it will be a real wow with graphic designers and students of graphic design.
Al of the images are pin sharp and useable. Unlike Exhibits A and B, but please don't get me started on them, again!
I can heartily recommend this product.
