Heron (Shop)

Being on a tight budget is not easy and it is great when you find ways to get more for your money. Heron Frozen Foods helps me a little bit by being able to buy food at bargain prices. Heron Frozen Foods is a little known chain of freezer shops. Apparently it has 117 branches with it head office in Hull but I had never heard of it until I came across their branch in Stretford mall in Greater Manchester. Food Shops. Everyone needs them, everyone uses one. Heron Frozen Foods, as they were known until recently, are predominantly northern with their base in and around Hull. I am lucky in that I can find at least 5 within a 10 mile radius. For those who are lucky, other branches further afield from Hull, that I know of, include Bridlington, Scarborough, Mablethorpe, Skegness, Grimsby, Spalding, Lincoln and around Greater Manchester. This medium sized chain of stores is an absolute godsend for any one living on their own or to a tight budget. Branded goods at lower than most supermarkets. My main gripe is that the stores are very cramped. I have visited at least six stores and all seem to have been built on plots no bigger than the penalty box of a football pitch! There are a lot of shops out there that sell foods at discount prices, but I have found that the real bargains are few and far between and the products sold are not nice at all. I would love to mention my experiences in such shops but won't as this one is about Heron. It may not be advertised reguarly in newspapers and on television and to be honest with the crowds in tehre I am so glad that it is not. I can only assume that the money saved on advertising is reflected in the prices within the store for me and you and that is definately a good thing in my eyes. I wanted to write this op because I feel the shop deserves to be known about, the problem with that is I believe that the company is actually just a Hull based shop so unless you can get to Hull easily than you may not be interested. Here goes anyway… The front of the shop looks just like a typical freezer shop, a big window with this weeks special offers on large poster to entice you in. The shops, and there are about one on each main shopping street in Hull, are all very clean and are almost all laid out in the same order.
