...feed difficulties in the 800 series (the pick up rollers got 'shiny' with contamination from the media - the problem is simply solved by cleaning them with alcohol on a cotton bud).
The shape of HP's printers has gradually got more rounded, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say less square, but the overall design has stayed pretty constant - a tribute to the quality of the original design. They are not the smallest printers around, as the paper trays are horizontal, but they can be put flat against a wall as none of the cables protrude from the rear profile.
Although this printer is up to the current standards, my feeling is that their whole range is getting more flimsy with the years. None of the current models have the real solidity that my first DJ 500 had all those years ago.
