Easy to install with USB connection. Drivers and manual are downloadable directly from Hewlet Packards web site. (I'm not allowed to include the web address but search for Officejet V45 on HP's site and you will find them.)
The fax and the copier work without being connected to the PC. The copier and the scanner scan at 600dpi and the printer prints at 600dpi too which is not photo quality but from viewing distance is acceptable.
Am impressed with the print quality and the facilities, it is capable of printing on both sides of the paper and the software even instructs you exactly how to reintroduce the paper that has already been printed on so there's no guessing which way up or which way round it goes.
You can fax directly from the V45 or directly from the computer and the V45 is capable of sending and receiving colour fax.
The V45 takes two cartridges, one black and one tricolour. I print like there's no tomorrow so it's fortunate that the V45 can use compatible inks. What I do is take my empty cartridges and have them refilled. The black one works out at £11.00 and the colour one works out at £15.00. Saves quite a bit of money.
The V45 is quiet-ish. You can hear her but she isn't obtrusive. She doesn't clunk like I would have expected her to and she is quite fast. Have no timings so can't give you the ppm's or anything sorry :(
I got the V45 as a straight swap for something else so have no idea how much it costs. My only qualm with the V45 is that the mains adaptor is 18v. Nowhere could I find an 18v adaptor.
