HP Designjet CP Ink System printhead with cartridge and cleaner

Advantages: Prints are massive and very high quality
Disadvantages: Big initial outlay - unlikely to be useful for the average home user.

.... It isn’t particularly quick to print out a sheet but the sheets art so much larger than usual sizes so it’s easy to expect too much. It takes around 6 minutes per page of A3 and around 17 minutes per page of A1 which isn’t really too bad and does give you time to do other things when printing out A1’s as it isn’t worth standing over it waiting. Advantages: Good Cost Effective Wide Format Printer
Disadvantages: On the large side - but then it is a Wide format printer!

...Well, yes it is and ok it does require ample desk space......... but what do expect for a wide format printer. I use this printer almost daily at work for numerous graphic design based tasks, from printing documents for proofing purposes to production of employee handbooks and other literature. The only problem i have experienced with this printer came during installation, whereby the drivers on the disks supplied with the printer werent recognised. However, the situation was easily remedied by a phone call to HP and downloading the newer drivers from their website. After software installation the setup of the printer and its physical components was very straight forward, this comprises of paper tray, output tray, rear paper feeder, ink heads and ink cartridges (all of which simply plug into place) The printer is able... Advantages: Fast Printing (if not Adobe), Toner Level Display, Good Quality Print
Disadvantages: It's Too Big, Doesn't Duplex Properly, It's Too Big, Noisy, oh yes - It's Too Big!

After much debate, my boss went out on a whim - without our IT honcho - and bought the CP4005dn - which, as it had toners instead of cartridge - he rationalised that it couldn't possibly go through the ink as fast and, according to him, was pretty darned fast and was obviously highly sought after as it had sold out in the shop, but they would deliver one to him. This was a bad idea since my boss knew as much about printers as I do about his collection of Johnny Hallyday CDs (in other words, you know what its function is, but other than that not very much). Still, misgivings aside, we awaited its arrival with baited breath. On Monday, a lovely delivery guy buzzed saying 'parcel', which my colleague duly signed for, only for the delivery guy to disappear on us saying it was outside… oh my. What a sight!
