Manufacturer's product description
The DLT 40/80 GB Tape Drive is a backup and restore solution for mid to high-end Compaq ProLiant and AlphaServers. The DLT 40/80 GB Tape Drive is a 40 GB native DLT tape drive with a native transfer rate of 6 MB/sec. It utilizes on-drive LZL data compression that can double these features to 80 GB and 12 MB/sec, respectively. Additionally, the drive utilizes an LVD Wide Ultra SCSI interface for better performance and compatibility with today's SCSI devices. With more capacity, higher performance and comparable pricing to the DLT 35/70 GB, customers will transition quickly to the 40/80 GB DLT. This product contains two internal DLT 40/80 GB tape drives, two DLT IV data cartridges, one DLT cleaning cartridge, a power cord, original drivers on CD, user's guide on CD and documentation.
Advantages: Reliable, efficient data storage. Good compatibility Disadvantages: Noisy, capacity not the greatest, speed.
...As most of you may be aware, computer data is very important to most of us in out jobs today. However, what happens if that data is suddenly lost or destroyed? Well, I can tell you, we would be in a right mess!
Therfore the best method to protect yourself is to back up your computer data regularly! This is ok on your home computer as a lot of people back up their important files to memory stick, DVD or CD.
But what happens in the office where there are lots of shared files and data?
enter the data tape drive. Yes your servers at work are probably backed up onto tapes. These are not too dissimilar to your Audio tapes of a few years back. They are magnetic tapes that store large amount sof computer data on them via a tape drive.
Im going to tell you all about my reliable workhorses I have here at work. The HP DLT VS80tape drives...

Advantages: THREE functions all for one technology / good value for money for all THREE functions Disadvantages: The COPY function gives average results. Ink cartridges are rapidly used up in premium photos
..., instead of walking 38 yards to the nearest library (Leytonstone Library) to spend 10p coins on photocopying, I made use of the COPY function of my personal 'HP DESKJET F380'. In this context, I can photocopy anything at home, ranging from album covers to word-processed information, FREE of charge.
The overall quality of the 'HP DESKJET F380', reflects the improvement in technology, that Hewlett Packard strives to achieve in this modern era. With it's three MAIN combined actions of a separate printer, scanner and copier, the HP F380 model is laying the foundations for the FUTURE of processing information at home. Thanks to the design, it helps in reducing clutter of two or more larger electronic hardware (scanner etc.) not to mention extensive, complicated wiring that can increase environmental hazard risks (i.e. electrical hazards...

Advantages: four gigabyts of ram! very fast, cheap, only slots into one slot Disadvantages: not many, wont work with older operating systems
...that the limit for most operating systems, apart from all or most server or networking operating systems, for the RAM is about four gigabytes, so I had brought the right OS for the Ram I had brought.
◙User Experience ◙
After installing my new ram, I was very happy with what I had brought; I noticed a significant change in the speed of my computer and how many programs it could run simultaneously.
For instance, before, I could only run about five or six programs at once, and my computer would slow right down, and my computer would also have problems with my fast broadband connection.
Now, because of my new ram, I can run as many programs as I want to and also my broadband connection is much faster than it was before. So all in all, I was very pleased with my new purchase.
The support of Compaq is absolutely brilliant...
