The C1099A represents Hewlett-Packard's terminal for HP9000 and HP3000 systems. It can be used as the system console or as a user data entry station. C1099A can emulate HPTerm, and industry standard ASCII and ANSI terminals. PCTERM and SCO Console emulations are also supported. It uses a standard PC-type keyboard and features a clock, calendar, calculator, ASCII chart, and diagnostic accessories. Setup is easy - with emulation-dependent menus. A "Quick" menu presents common terminal settings for a one-screen setup.
Advantages: Well designed, good quality case and screen Disadvantages: Its not a TFT
...I received a Compaq 7500 monitor with my old Compaq PC about 3 years ago in 2002.
INFO
The 7500 is a 17" CRT screen made by Compaq but made in China.
I don't think Compaq sell these any more but I have seen them on EBAY for about £35 and as little as £16.
DETAILS AND DESIGN
The monitor is all black in design with a silver frame surrounding the screen and the controls. Well really it's not silver but more like a brushed aluminium effect.
This is a standard 17" Compaq monitor with I think a 16" viewable area.
It's shape and design are far better than a lot of newer monitors on the market today. The main back section of the monitor is not that big so you can easily fit the monitor on to the smaller sized office desks you get for home PC's. Rough sizes are 43 cm (H) x 41 cm (W) X 45 cm (D)
I like this monitor for both...

Advantages: Cheap, relatively small, does everything a monitor should do Disadvantages: bland design, old fashioned,
...stock one 15" CRT monitor! Well its like anything I suppose, they all gradually fade out, in a few years maybe no one will settle for 15" TFTs and 17" TFTs will become standard. If you can find one however, then its ideal for use with an older computer or second computer perhaps, especially for £10 off ebay!

DESIGN
------------
The design is pretty basic; its your typical beige 15" CRT Monitor. Its quite small, not as bulky as some of the older model CRTs. The base is quite bulky, it stands on a grey block which is rather large and unsightly. The monitor has "compaq" across the top in red lettering. At the bottom of the monitor is a range of small circular buttons from which one can control brightness, contrast etc. Most CRTs these days are slightly jazzed up, like the recent Compaq ones come in silver and the dell...

...HP w2207 LCD monitor purchase oct 2007
in my quest to find the perfect monitor at this price range i discovered that you probably will have to have a "TN" type technology because
they are cheaper and offer excellent response times: of these 22" LCDs my front runners in oct07 were
Samsung 226BW
Samsung 226CW
HP w2207
I was going to get a Samsung 226BW because of the 2ms response time until i started reading about the
different versions going about. the S version manufactured by Samsung, being one released to the press for review
the other lesser versions A and C that were sub-contracted out to other manufacurers and are sub-standard versions,
that give blue color casts etc.
The Samsung 226CW that has recently come onto the market and is now available in the UK is the replacement
for the 226BW...

The Terminal is rather a strange film, it doesn't really have a strong plot, and it is more of a gentle, sometimes whimsical tale about a man who becomes stranded at JFK airport. The man in question is Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks) who having come to... more
