When you get the printer, and open the box you will find:
• HP LaserJet 6L Printer model C3990A
• Power cord for the printer
• HP LaserJet Toner cartridge (really I can’t remember if I got this when I got the printer or not, but I suppose they include one when u get a printer, any how if you didn’t get one, then I have the worst memory in the world).
• Sheet of printer labels in many languages including Chinese
• Some disks labeled drivers or something
• Some documents including some brochures and the user’s manual.
NOTE: I don’t know why HP doesn’t include an IEEE-1284 Compliant Parallel cable, but anyhow you must this cable because the printer...

...is easy-to-use and does not take more than 7 minutes to install. Mac users are also able to install this printer, so click on the desktop icon when disk is inserted and follow instructions. The HP 9800D is USB/Cable enabled. Depending on your computer processor speeds you may have to restart your computer for the computer to access the new printer hardware utility. A small printer icon should appear at the foot of your toolbar. This will be activated when prompted.
Make sure that the black and colour ink cartridges that you are using are compatible with this type of printer brand. A list is evident on all cartridge packages. The packaging will list the HP Deskjet 9800D if compatible. Please note that the cartridges will have to be changed or swapped more frequently than a standard printer. ...Well, I have just read Richards review and I cannot disagree more! Richard, you said you hadn't had time to fully determine the total effectiveness of the printer, well now it's a couple of months down the line, come back and let us know what you think!
I work for an IT out sourcing company and we support the IT requirements of many medium to large corporations - one of which had just ordered a range of HP 2500n and HP 3500n printers throughout their UK offices (about 20 offices in total).
We recommended the newer HP range as the company have used the old 4000 series LaserJet for years, and the staff are pretty familiar with them. Upon the first installation of a 2500n last year, we went ahead and popped one onto the network to backup their existing monochrome laser printer.
