CHOICES TO MAKE IN SPEC'S.
--------------------------------------------------
When i chose to purchase a laptop at first i was'nt fully sure about the processors within the laptops as well as the grafix that were included, i did'nt want a laptop which had really poor precs as ive allways had powerfull desk top pc's in the past so i had to do some research which took me a while.
When looking around on the net and in a computer magazine that i read ,i found there were 3 main processors types available one was the the CELERON which has been used for a while now but does'nt have all the added benefit's of the desktop pc's and has poor performance but these are often cheaper tho and would suit a student, the second was the PENTIUM 4 which was'nt ment to be used as a laptop procesor as is very powerfull but has 2 drawback's,one being power consumption and the second was overheating these tend to me on the exspencive side also at well over £1499. the 3rd one was the PENTIUM M which was the newer processor at the time and had very good review's for it perfomance aswell a power consumption the PENTIUM M used a different CPU arcitecter than all the othere's CPU's which is more reliable due to a new data transfer line.
So iafter looking at all the options i dissided id choose a laptop with a PENTIUM M processor which was slightly exspensiver than the CELERON but packed a bigger punch .
The grafic's option was a bit of a problem tho ,i found that only the exspensive laptops had powerfull grafic's chips and were a little out of my league so there and then i made the choice of this not being a games playing laptop in anyway biteing my lip and carrying on.
The next choice was screen size i did'nt want anything smaller than 14 inches as i had a 17 inch screen on my old decktop pc and it would just not seem write looking and straining my eye's over a tiny screen so my choice was 14 inches or larger, internet was alway a proplem for me as i live in a loft flat and i hate wires running around the skirting boards so the laptop also had to be wireless the best choice was the CENTRINO as this was most reliable..

THE LAPTOP I CHOSE
--------------------------------
When looking through all the laptop's available i chose the HI-GRADE laptop because it was slightly cheaper than the rest plus it had the extra ram a total of 512 mb's that was needed for my art work and 3d construction and modeling program's the laptop had the PENTIUM M processor i wanted that was fast enought to use with everything i need it for, the CENTRINO wireless was also included which i also wanted as it ment there would be no wires or cables lieing around plus the added benefit of an infra red port was good as i could put mp3 and picture to and from my SAMSUNG infra red phone.

SPECS OF THE CHOSEN LAPTOP
------------------------------------------------
Mobile Intel Pentium-M 735 (1.7GHz 2Mb cache)
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
512MB DDR RAM
40GB HDD
DVD/CD-RW/DVD-RW
15.1" TFT XGA
wireless LAN
3.5 hours battery life
2.8Kgs

WHAT IT FELT LIKE AFTER PURCHASE
---------------------------------------------------------
Ive been told this happens alot but when i received the laptop the specs were not the same as the one's show in the advert, this upset me alot as the place i purchased it from never sorted the problem out for me i had to phone up HI-GRADE them selfs to sort out the problem,HI-GRADE fixed the problem in under a week the problem was the wrong memory was given only 256mb and not 512mb and the processor was not running at the correct speed only 900mhz and not 1.7ghz ,apart from this tho i was fairly happy with my purchase, the laptop had all the feacture i wanted

FACTORS FOR THE LAPTOP
-----------------------------------------
HI-GRADE but together a fairly good laptop the screen was clear there was already a virus program running straight away which saved me time looking for one on the net the speed was really good as well it's desktop performance nearly matched that of my 2.06 ghz AMD PC which was a big suprize to me upgrades can be added throught simple slide panels on the base of the laptop.

FACTORS AGAINST THE LAPTOP
-----------------------------------------------
This was the cheapest of the PENTIUM M processor laptops at the time and i think this was really aimed at the budget customer the screen was very clear but was way to bright and the added screen software did little to help this,it also feels cheap to the touch compared to othere laptop of it class, sound quality is also poor as the small added speakers have little of no bass available so music sounds very tin pot .
Battery life is also poor and is no wear near the 3 and a half hour shown on the spec's i worked it out at about 2 hour and that's just browseing the net .

OVER ALL
--------------
when chooseing a laptop i really do recomend you try be4 you buy as i was a little dipapointed with this laptop but then again at £800 this was one of the cheapest PENTIUM M processor laptops available at the time,id shop around and take as long as you need to choose your future laptop as there not cheap and once you have them most company's dont offer refund's or return policy unless there broken or damaged in anyway
5 out of 10
