Advantages: Highly original, engagingly written - entertaining escapism, with a thought provoking backbone Disadvantages: For the material, it could be a little over-long
...I loved this book. This must be one of the most original pieces of writing that I have come accross in a long time - in subject, style and genre. The fact that this is not fiction increases the enjoyment of reading 'Yes Man'; Wallace actually lived every surreal event recorded. Wallace's style is thorough - he captures each thought and emotion he experiances as a result of his 'experiment' in an entertainingly accessible manner. His writing is, at times, laugh-out-loud funny - there were several points where I stopped and re-read passages I enjoyed them so much - and is consistantly engaging without being showy, indeed Wallace's humble attitude towards his natural story-telling ability is one of the most charming aspects of his style.
My one criticism is that Wallace could have edited his own material to a greater extent - in places...

Advantages: Great for any fan of the show Disadvantages: none
...***Background***
It is the animation talents of Neville Astley and Mark Baker that have brought Peppa Pig to our screens through Milkshake on Channel 5. The show has been running since 2004 and has been a firm favourite with our son since the start.
The set up is quite simple. Peppa Pig is the elder child of the Pig family. She lives in a house with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and her little brother George. They all snort a lot and love nothing better than to roll about in muddy puddles.

It starts with Peppa counting while...

Advantages: Great book that introduces colours through fun and flaps Disadvantages: none
...starts with all the dinosaurs hiding from Harry,
"Harry and the dinosaurs are playing hide-and-seek!
Can you help Harry to find his dinosaurs?"
On each page there is a fold over page with a peep through hole, where we see a little tail poking out. When the fold over page is opened we see that Harry has found one of his dinosaurs,
"Who's that hiding under the blue cushion?
Found you, Apatosaurus!"
Every dinosaur is very pleased to be found and the story ends when all the dinosaurs are back in Harry's bucket and he does a little disappearing act himself. The dinosaurs are confused until Harry jumps from behind a curtain,
"'Boo! Here I am!' says Harry."
***The Colours***
As well as the flaps as an added extra, there is also the opportunity for your child to learn about blue, yellow, red, purple and green in this book...
