The chemistry of Omega3 is complex (and I am no chemist) but to summarise, and simplify, the Omega3 parent fatty acid is called alphalinoic acid or ALA. In this are two active ingredients called Eicosapentaenoic Acid or EPA and Docosahexaenoic Acid or DHA.
DHA is thought to constitute the building blocks of the brain and is particularly important for maintaining memory. EPA is a vital nutrient in the functioning of the brain and for nerve stimulation. EPA also has anti-inflammatory benefits and can be used to maintain healthy joints, heart and circulation.
Fish themselves do not produce Omega3; they get it from the plankton on which they feed. Fish with particularly high levels of Omega3 are known as oily fish and the best examples are salmon, mackerel, sardines and tuna. There are also small amounts of Omega3 in meat and eggs...

Advantages: Highly beneficial health supplement Disadvantages: Taste. Slight nutty flavour but oil is oil!
...Hemp Oil is full of EFA's (essential fatty acids) plus vitamins and minerals. Hempseed Oil has a composition of nutrients that are in ratio with the nutritional requirements of the human body. Essential Fatty Acids are linoleic acid (omega6) and alpha linolenic acid (omega3). These cannot be synthesized by the human body and must be present in the daily diet as they aid the maintenance of many cell functions and control the progress of inflammations, fever and pain.
An excess of one omega family can reduce the activity of the other, thus Hempseed Oil is known as "Nature's Most Balanced Oil" and two teaspoons taken daily as a health supplement may benefit in maintaining lower cholestrol levels, aid in the discomfort of arthritis due to the anti inflammatory properties, assist diabetics as the EFA's break down arterial plaque...

REN's Omega 3 serum is one of the most sublime serums I have ever used. It is a pure oil made from omega 3/6 oils which are derived from seeds as opposed to fish. Because it's a natural oil with no mineral oils in it, it sinks beautifully into the skin more
