Advantages: none Disadvantages: expensive, not effective, can vary from person to person
...One of the health claims is that is can help with weight loss. I can confirm that 5HPT does not have any influence on weight loss. Well, not with me anyway. I took it for about 2-3 months and didn't notice any effects. You generally take it a few times a day, but it depends on the strength as they come in a variety. The results may vary person to person though but I personally wouldn't buy it again or recommend it.
I'm not sure if you're supposed to take other things with it to achieve results or maybe even do exercise or eat sensibly. But, if you did those things, you'd probably start losing weight anyway! It may also help you settle into a regular sleep pattern, which I would've also benefited from, but I can't say I noticed much difference there either.
I'm sure there are better supplements for weight loss out there but 5HTP...

Advantages: The best PMS Killer I have ever come aross Disadvantages: It's a bit niffy for a while
...HigherNature do two Mexican Yam products: the capsules and the cream. Believe it or not, the cream is generally considered the better product for most people to use. I'm not exactly fond of the term 'bioavailability', but in a comparison between capsules and cream for this particular product, It's one I have to use, as the diosgenins from the yam are absorbed better via the skin than via the digestive system.
From my own experience, I'd say the cream is the best PMS killer I've ever known - and as I'm in my late 30s, you can guess I've tried more than a few in my time. The effects are almost immediate (believe me, it calms me down within minutes - even before the smell of the cream has dissipated!) and last for hours.
As for the practical bits, it comes in a practical pump pack to dispense a fairly accurate dose each time...

...in a daily basis, and I also gave up. I heard about patches, but they also had bad reviews, and I didn't give them a try. My main concerns about these products were that most of them have either fucus, either 5-HTP. These ingredients are supposed to be safe, but they actually work stimulating the thyroid (the fucus or bladderwrack) or simulating the production/absorption of serotonin (5-HTP). In the short term, they should not give you any side effects, but it depends of your body and if you are sensitive to these ingredients. And this is something we don't know until it is too late. The fucus is used sometimes to treat hyperthyroidism, but if you haven't got such condition, and you take too much fucus, this can lead to hyperthyroidism, which one of the effects is messed up your metabolism, and you start losing and putting on weight without...
