for the teeth (although my cat is only 12 months old), I was advised by the breeder that cats who feed on wet food with a few dry munchies as treats have more risk of ginavitus (my previous cat had a few problems of tartare build up and rotten teeth - could have been less severe if I had used this dry nutrition food!

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Forced upon you by majority of Vets
To begin I will give you a bit of history. I have two Persians now 9 years old. They started life out on Go-cat with no problems whatsoever. I would like to state here that my friend has two Persians who are 14 now and they have never eaten anything other than Go-cat or had anything wrong with them.
The trouble started two years ago when at their annual review it was decided their teeth weren't up to much. The smallest one was born without many teeth so was a little deformed, she had to have two more removed. However, the big Persian didn't actually have any teeth out, she had a scale and polish at the princely price of £280!!! I was horrified. The vet told me to go onto Hills tooth kind "Oral"
They loved this, well they would at £16 a bag, they ate as much as the put back in the litter tray.

Advantages: complete food, seems well balanced, easy to store and serve Disadvantages: Can be addictive, causing cats who snack to gain weight, High initial outlay.
I first started feeding my cats Hills Science Plan Feline Maintenence when there was on offer in Petsmart for a free bag in exchange for empty tins of cat food. This was a very good offer, but now one of my cats will eat basically nothing but Hills.
While it seems like a lot to shell out - £11 for a 2Kg sack, if you follow the recommended feeding plan, the daily cost is less than feeding tinned food.
The food will keep for a while once opened as long as stored in dry cool conditions, and is easy to handle being just pellets. The recent replacement of the wax paper bag with a resealable top plastic one is good as it keeps the food from picking up moisture.
To sum up - the food is good and well liked by both my cats and the neighbour's one who sneaks in from time to time; just stick to the recommended feeding quantities if ...
