I bought an R1 from this dealer almost two years ago. The bike itself was in great condition and a great price, I even managed to haggle them down slightly.
On visiting the showroom for a 'look only' I fell in love with my race replica R1 and the salesman spotted this. He wasn't pushy and I had in fact seen and spoke to him in the past. He was friendly and down to earth and admitted he could tell I liked the bike. He pushed it (obviously it's his job) but I didn't feel harassed at all. I asked what deals we could work and and we took it from there, we sat at his desk and I decided after I heard about the bikes history that it was the one for me at a price I liked.
Details changed hand yada yada and I put a deposit on the bike and left the showroom a happy bunny with a pick up date on my birthday a week or so later (which I had booked off work anyway).

My birthday comes and I catch a ride to Raceways in Fleetwood on the back of my fathers bike. The showroom is about 15miles (approx) from my house, weather was good and I was looking forward to picking up my new toy.
On arrival we noticed there were loads of bikers in the car/bike park out back of the showroom. Apparently there was a dyno testing weekend going on (they have the facility, very smart and there's a food van too).

I was greeted when I entered the showroom and the same salesman knew why I was there (I should hope so). He went off to get the keys for my bike which was sat in the showroom as SOLD but he assured me it had all been checked over and was ready to ride away since I had organised my Insurance to cover me from that day.
On returning I could tell something was wrong. The salesman was very apologetic and said they mechanics weren't in that day and he didn't know where the key was for my R1!
We said to find out while we had a look at the bikes outside and grabbed a drink from the coffee machine.
We waiting a long time as he checked desks, offices etc etc.. he contacted his boss who didn't know where it was and was also apologetic.
I was getting annoyed now, my day was slipping away and I wanted the bike. In the end they decided the mechanic couldn't make it in and they were probably int he garage locked up 'safely' and they had no access without him there.
Very frustrated I asked them to have the bike delivered to me ASAP during the week as I wasn't traveling to pick it up to be let down again.
We paid the rest of the money I owed on the bike and left.

A couple of days later I had a call saying they couldn't find the keys anywhere and the bike needed a new set cut which they (as they should) would pay for, but it would take a couple more days etc.. I agreed since I didn't really have a choice and about three days later my bike was finally delivered to my door (still with the tank pad protector I didn't like on after I asked them to take that off).

All in all, Raceways is a cool showroom with accessories, new and used motorbikes and scooters, a garage, dyno testing place out back and a food van at weekends at least. I don't encourage people NOT to go there off my once bad experience, mistakes happen and I'm not an unreasonable man. Go check it out if your local, even if it's for the ride out, but if you are purchasing a bike and if you do live far away especially, just make sure you emphasize wanting everything READY ON THE DAY! Mistakes happen yes, but a persons bike keys should be kept safe, not locked in a room they don't have access to when you are collecting your new bike and especially not lost!
