I bought my Hinari HB174 some months ago while it was on Special Offer at Safeway for £29.99. As their specials seem to come around again on a regular basis, don’t despair of being able to buy one at this fantastic price! You can order one at Tesco online for £44.99 if you really must have one, but the question remains - is it the right choice for you?
SHOULD YOU BUY ONE? Having read various opinions on breadmakers here at Ciao, let me say ... ...the rising wasn’t brilliant, my Hinari makes consistently good bread. On those occasions when the loaves didn’t rise so well, the resulting bread was still edible though a bit ‘heavy’! And the machine really couldn’t be easier to use. It comes with a straightforward user guide which gives concise, easy-to-follow instructions and little illustrations for those who can’t wait to get started. You get a measuring cup and multi-measure spoon, so all you ...

Advantages: Fresh and delicious baked bread that's incredibly easy to make, perfect results (almost) every time! Disadvantages: Salt overdose if Fred is using the thing!
...beautiful pristine white is this Hinari model, the HB174 to be exact. No Fred, I said pristine white, not Christine White, and yes I know you finished with her last week! It does have a very glossy professional look to it, how much did it set you back?
Fclayson: It cost me just £39 at Safeways at Crimbo time. Yes, it was Crimbo; you remember me hanging my balls on the tree...? But that’s another story…..
So here we go, making a normal ... ...doing trying to plug the Hinari into the gas fire?
Squiggles (sticking out tongue and making rude gestures with two fingers): The viewing window is part of the flap that you lift in order to gain access to the breadmaking pan itself. This is where you tip the ingredients and let them get on with the process. If it's just a simple loaf you want, you can let it do its job without intervention. Some recipes call for human interaction (bad luck Freddles, ...

Advantages: Smells beautiful, tastes great. Disadvantages: Heavy on the stomach
...became proud owners of a Hinari HB174 Breadmaker.
The machine itself is quite compact, measuring 350 x 280 x 230mm and so is easily accommodated in smaller kitchens like ours. It is finished in Diamond white and comes complete with measuring cup and measuring spoon.
It has 10 operating programs to cover all eventualities,
1 Basic normal
2 Basic mix
3 Basic rapid
4 Basic dough
5 Wholewheat normal
6 Wholewheat mix
7 Wholewheat rapid
8 Wholewheat ... ...There is also a bread colour button, which allows you to choose the colour of the crust, either light or dark. It’s a handy feature this as I can usually tell what’s for tea by the colour of the smoke as I come into our street. There is also a warm function, which will keep the bread warm for up to one hour, if the stop button is not pressed or the lid not opened. A timer is also included which allows you to program the machine to start at any time ...

Advantages: Home made bread - mmmmmm - yummy Disadvantages: It takes 4 hours
...me that Tesco were selling HINARI HB174 breadmakers for £39.99, Yes, I kid you not, £39.99. I leapt into my trusty Mazda 626 Turbo Diesel (OK I'm bragging now!) and tore across town to the supermarket as fast as the speed limits would allow(actually I went the next day but I like to sound really enthusiastic). Sure enough, there on the shelves were 100's (ok, about 15) of boxes of breadmakers screaming for me to buy one. I went to the checkout - ... ...- be patient.
The Hinari HB174 is a white rectangular appliance with a sloping top lid (with window) and control panel. Also supplied is the bread pan, measuring cup and measure, along with the recipe book and user guide.
Keen to get my first loaf cooking I hurredly went through the getting started section, washing the pan and parts, wiping the outside of the unit - oh come on! lets make bread!
Remove pan, add ingredients in order as listed in ...

Advantages: REAL, FRESH BREAD EVERY DAY..............MMMMMMM Disadvantages: ??????????????
I bought my Hinari Bread Maker from Kwik Save last year, it cost £34.99. It came with an instruction book, recipe book and a measuring scoop. It is recommend you wash the bread pan in warm soapy water before the first use, it does smell a little.
There is a good range of recipes which includes; BASIC WHITE BREAD, CHEESE, ONION AND HERB BREAD, GRANARY BREAD, MALTED TEA LOAF AND BANANA NUT BREAD, it will also mix and prove dough for different things ... ...BREAD AND HOT CROSS BUNS. There is a LIGHT or DARK option, personally I prefer light, the dark is too crispy for me. There is a 13 hour timer, you can set it so you have fresh bread every morning, if you have ECONOMY 7 it costs even less!!! Some of the recipes are not timer compatable, eg; dough mixes and bread that you have to add ingredients to during the mixing, SUNDRIED TOMATO BREAD, NUT BREAD etc. This is explained in the easy to follow recipes.
