...Another step into the unknown, another step towards healthy eating. The Hinari two tier steamer. Yes it does improve the taste of food and no it does not fill your kitchen with steam. The Hinari electric steamer consists of a base unit with a 900cc capacity, (that is one and a half pints), a steamer bowl, and, divided by a seating rim, a second steamer bowl. In addition there is also a rice bowl which is made to sit inside either bowl and is used for, you guessed, it rice. In fact this bowl is meant to be used for any small foods such as rice and sweetcorn and also any foods being cooked in there own sauce. The whole thing stands 330mm high and the diameter is around 230mm. The timer goes up to 20 minutes in single increments and continues up to 1 hour in 5 minute increments. Advantages: Generous compartments

...As we all strive to be a bit more healthy especially when feeding the kids , steaming food is a simple step to help retain the goodness of the food and what could be easier than investing in a steamer. The Hinari two-tier steam supreme has two very generous compartments which easily hold enough veg to feed a family of four and can also be used independantly. It also comes with a rice steaming dish which easily inserts into any of the compartments. It's not just useful for steaming veg and rice, it can also be used for steaming meat, poultry or fish and one of the compartments is moulded at the bottom to easily hold eggs. I was impressed with the handy little recipe book that was included in the purchase - lots of inspiration for my new kitchen 'toy' also easy to read water level gauge with an external spout for topping up water... ...I was looking for a relatively decent air con unit last Friday due ot the extereme heat. I was torn between the Focus 12000 BTU Hinari unit and the 14000 BTU unit I'd seen in a B&Q catalogue (NOT the split unit as seen on their website) and luckily I managed to test both of them so here is my review/comparison. Cooling:- The B&Q unit is rated at 14000 BTU's vs the Hinari unit which is rated at 12000 BTU's. From what I could feel in the store I'd say the B&Q unit does feel slightly cooler but not by a huge amount. In an average sized room I'd say you might get an extra 0.5 to 1 degree celsius off your room tempreture. For reference, the Hinari cooled a 9sqm office I was working in from 30c to 25.2c in around an hour and also drastically reduced the humidity. This made the office competely bearable again.
