...was the answer the Hinari sandwich toaster! I bought this as a student some years ago, cost around £10 ish and what an investment! Basically all you need is two slices of bread any type, some butter and whatever filling you desire. It takes a little time to heat up, the light tells you when it is ready to put your stuff in and then when the sandwich is done. ...have is that sometimes it doesn't always cut cleanly through all the fillings such as sliced meat and you have to be selfish to use it as it only does one person at a time. My favourite filling is cheese, ham (or pepperoni) and tomato, a great companion so get filling and remember to butter the outside of the bread so it doesn't stick to the toaster!
