Part 1 - Overall product evaluation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hiper group (HIgh-PERformance group) have a reputation for producing impeccable technology designed to meet the highest specifications and indeed this device is no exception. It was designed in the UK and conforms to the following standards; ATX 2.2, Intel BTX, SLi, CE and CB.
CE and CB are merely safety standards and are a legal requirement for sale of any device such as this in the UK.
ATX combines the best functionality from the form factors that dominated the computer industry in the
early 1990s: the high integration of LPX and the expandability of Baby-AT. The ATX form factor is
essentially a Baby AT motherboard rotated 90 degrees within the chassis enclosure and providing a new

Advantages: Cheap PSU from a repultable Company Disadvantages: Not ATX 2.0 sepc, only use on older/less powerful systems
...Hiper are gaining a lot of respect in the UK market and the higher end of their product lines are of similar products to the like of Antec and Enermax.
This PSU is thier budget offering and is ideal for use in a second PC, or as a replacement to an ageing PSU in an old system.
I am using this PSU to power an AMD Athlon XP system with a gig of Ram, 4 hard disks, 2 optical drives, and the usual sound and graphics card and it has coped with no problem at all.
With only 350 watts however, and not being ATX 2.0 spec, it shouldnt be expected to cope in a newer more powerful Athlon 64 system, and most certainly shouldnt be used with PCI Express graphics cards which draw a lot of power.
Keep the low price in mind and don't ask too much of it and you'll have no problems here....

Advantages: Modular, Pretty Quiet, Best looking PSU on market, Extends component life, stable Disadvantages: Cables length, there are more silent available, possible LED problems
...important airflow throughought your system, it also looks amazing in any colour, especially the Blue, and comes with LEDs to match, but they are not over the top.
The Hiper 580w is supllied in a very nice 'toolbox' with plenty of the braided modular cables and a convertor to allow you to use the product with SLi (newer revisions may have dual cables instead). You will notice when you turn of the PSU it carrys on running for a few minutes in order to draw the heat away from the components and extend their life.
All in all a product that is very close to perfect and for a very good price, i reccomend it highly. My only gripes are the cables may to short in large cases which use BTX form factor or similar and a problem on my unit with the LED which flickers after shutdown, although this may just be one out of a million, so nothing major...

So.. how do you write a review on a keyboard? Obvious puns aside, I'll try.
I was looking for a backlit keyboard for my work years ago, but all the ones I seen then where indeed lit from behind, but the light did not shine through the letters... more
A strange device, this. It's essentially a moulded sheet of silicone rubber with the layout of a standard desktop keyboard. This provides two main advantages, which the manufacturers of this and similar devices are quick to push: firstly, it can... more
