WHAT'S LARGE, YELLOW AND EATS JUNK?..A HIPPOSKIP OF COURSE Diamond review Review with images

AdvantagesLight when empty so easy to store, Fill when you want, will be collected when you're ready, etc

DisadvantagesNone

"...has been put in the Hippo Skip bag you can choose when you feel it is full enough and only then contact the company so that the bag can be collected. Price wise we thought from prices we had been given that the Hippobag bag would work out a little cheaper than a traditional skip. We have our own driveway with a dropped kerb but for those who don't the skip bag is a really good idea as it can be easily placed in a front garden and as it isn't rigid ..." Read review

Hippo-ly, our rubbish has gone! Nearly. Diamond review

AdvantagesCheaper than a skip, more convenient, easy to use

DisadvantagesMay have to wait for collection, bags only available in a few places

"...than the planned bed... Enter the Hippo Bag! ~~~~~~~~~~~ About the Bag ~~~~~~~~~~~ Hippo Bags are available in two sizes, midi (1 metre cube) and mega (1.5m long x 1m wide x 1m high). Both, however, are limited to holding one tonne of material. The Hippo Bag website (www.hippobag.co.uk) gives guidelines on how much a tonne is depending on what type of waste you're filling the bags with. The RRP is from £7.99 for the midi bag, although ..." Handy Hippo Bag saved me money vs skip hire

AdvantagesHandy size, convenient collection, easy to buy

DisadvantagesNot big enough for larger jobs

"I have been undertaking a huge renovation job on my hundred year old home, and as its an ongoing process, I have been hiring skips on an ad hoc basis. Thinking that these were costing me a fortune I thought I might try the Hippobag and see if what my friend, a small independent builder, was telling me was true. I purchased the bag at a local branch of Travis Perkins for £10, which was an easy and trouble free experience. The bag was on a stand ..." Read review

Hippo Bag gave us an excellent & convenient waste removal service

AdvantagesVery convenient. Good and fast service.

DisadvantagesPrice for the mega bag was quite expensive.

"...loads in the car.. enter Hippo Bag. I've seen them in my local Wickes store and checked the Hippo Bag website to ensure that I was okay throwing the old shed in to the bag and good news, waste wood was not listed in the prohibited items list. Bonus. Considering the amount of wood from the old shed I went for the 'Mega' bag in Wickes and that cost me £11.00. It's the biggest bag they do and will hold a maximum of 1.5 tons of waste. I unfolded the ..." Read review

HIPPOBAG - cleaning up for a new bathroom

AdvantagesNo waiting for a skip - buy the bag and use it straight away

DisadvantagesCollected in five days - I must be too impatient!

"...went online and found the Hippo website which let me search for my nearest stockist which was a garden centre. When I got there I found the bags came in two sizes and bought the bigger megabag which promised to fit a bath in it...well I can tell you it did! As well as loads of old lino and the basin and cupboards, although I did have to go back and get another bag (the smaller midibag this time) for the old toilet and tiles etc. Between the two ..."
