I bought a Hippy Chick Hip Seat because I suffer from mild radial sciatica and my husband has back problems. I also bought it because having 2 children within 12 months of each other I was always carrying one or the other and I thought I ought to be carrying them with my back straight, and it certainly works.
I find it extemely useful to leave it in the car and use it when out and about for short periods - mostly if we are walking somewhere and my oldest, who is now 26 months, doesn't want to walk anymore.
My main grumble with the carrier is that I'm not exactly a slim-jim (size 22 actually, although we're working on that!) and the waistband only just fits; so I don't think it's as comfy as it would be if I were slimmer. My husband gets on better with it than I do and I think this is becasue he can do it up tight enough to support the weight of the child he's carrying. Even so I think it was well worth buying, just for the posture side of things.
