I loved the idea of the Hip Seat and couldn't wait until my daughter was old enough to use it. I keep it in the car, and we use it for short journeys on foot which is much more convenient than using a buggy. I enjoy being able to hold my daughter and still have an arm free to do other things. I am still using it regularly, and I certainly want to recommend it to others.
However, there are some things about the Hip Seat that didn't live up to expectation. Firstly, it needs to be done up really tight or it slips, leading to backache. Secondly, if I use it for too long (more than 20 minutes, and I don't know if it is designed to be used for that long) I start to get pain in the shoulder and arm that I use to support my daughter. Finally, although I enjoy having my daughter close, I have found that it can be difficult in shops to pick up or pay for goods - it is almost impossible to get get money from a purse using only one hand. I now use the Hip Seat only for very short trips (e.g. from the car park into the swimming pool).
So, in conclusion, I would say that this is a fabulous product, but you should be aware that you may have problems if you use it for too long or in a situation that requires you to use your hands.
