Only got this recently so can't tell you yet whether it will stand the test of time but it has truly changed my life :) One of the best things about it is that it's really wasy to put on. I have a baby Bjorn carrier but never used it as I couldn;t be doing with the hassle of all the straps and stuff. The hipseat just velcros round your waist and then there is a safety clip. Takes very little time while your baby is whining to be picked up. It's also much lighter than I expected which makes me more likely to take it with me. It's machine washable although I haven't done that yet. My baby is 8 months old and he sits on it quite happily for as long as I want. You have to keep your arm round him to keep him in place and make sure he doesn;t fall but it feels a very natural hold. UPDATED:-
The child I bought this for is now nearly 3 and I have a 2 month who I am dying to be old enough to get on the hipseat. I used it so much with my son and it became my indispensible item - So easy to get them on and they feel so much lighter when sitting on it. Carried my son on long walks with it - both of us as happy as can be. Have lent it to my sister at the moment who is raving about how great it is for carrying her 26 pound 10 month old around. Just wanted to update for anyone who is thinking of getting one - Go for it!
