Rating from Sabriel16 5 Stars ()

Advantages it has been written....

Disadvantages there are none...apart from not beng able to put it down :)

One of the few, truely fantastic trilogies, that appeal to both adults and a younger audience. I first read this trilogy when i was 12, and couldnt put them down. years later, i have reread them and found that it is just as grippin as the first time, but now i can see more depth into the story.

There are three books, The Northern Lights ( Now a film going under the american title, THe Golden Compass), The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

Set in the old oxford of an alternative world, the three books tell the story of Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon, as she grows up an faces the harsh realities of adult life. but its not that simple, this is a fantasy after all. love, betrayal, hate and hope are all major themes in this fabulous tale, as lyra goes on her adventure to rescue a friend, cross the bridge into other worlds, fall in love and learn the pain of having to give up everything for the greater good.
this gripped me completly from beginning to end, drawing you in to the story and sending you on a rollacosta of emotions, as you laugh and cry with the characters.

Sorry I could only rate this SH, but having not read the book (or is it books), I couldn't get a handle on what you were reviewing. I would have found some basic information useful, ie how many books (I'm guessing 3 as you say it's a trilogy), their titles and a bit more about the fantasy world it was creating. Not knowing anything about this, when you say it is fantasy, is it like Narnia or Middle Earth (Tolkein) or Discworld, to give some very different types. If you add more information, drop me a line in my guestbook and I'll happily come back and re-rate. Adam
