It maybe a touching book but compared to the other two books it is the worst in my opinion. When I first got the book, the cover looked so inviting I thought it would be so wonderful. Philip Pullman is extremely good at thinking of titles, but he's one of those offers who hasn't got any talent for writing a series."The Amber Spyglass" it sounds so mystical so mysterious, and yet most of it isn't. I think that he put too big a dose of fantasy in it. I like the way that he put just the right amount of everything in the other books in the series. I didn't like the book itself but I have to say I greatly enjoyed the characters. Philip Pullman describes everything so vividly you can see everything so clearly. I can always imagine how the character feels, and feel like I am the character when I'm reading one of Pullman's books. Though I am a huge fan of his, I think Philip put to much ideas in to this book, and made it a bit too overdone. If he has decided to make the ending of this book as it is then he should make another book because with that ending the book just seems unfinished in some way, and if he does write another book he should always remember that its usually the ending that people judge books by. A BAD ENDING ALWAYS MEANS AN UNFINISHED BOOK. I like the other series of books as well, even though they are greatly unpopular, but I think they have more feeling in thm than the other series.
Overall I think Philip Pullman is a great writer but this book could have alot more work done on it to make it at least above average.
