The Kite Runner A Journey Of Redemption
Advantages: Everything you want in a book, adventure, relationship, war, discrimination Disadvantages: Can be brutual interms of things like rape, violence
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini which was published in 2003 is an outstanding book. Interesting fact about this book is that the novel was said to be the first novel written in English by an Afghan writer. This give us the oppunitnity to experience culture and tradition that we never imagined before. This book is everything anyone wants from an adventure book and it's timelesss.
The kite runner tells a story of stained relationship of a father ... ...its parallel to human behavior. The kite runner talks about potical conflict and social transformation of Afghanistan between the year 1970 to 2001. The author shows us with a vitual image of the past of this eastern country (Afghanistan) in a way that you will not think it just another history book for class. It really amazing how I got into really about the life of people from other country which helped me feel closer and able to understand other ...

Boleyns Everywhere
Advantages: good read Disadvantages: addictive!
Buying The Book I bought ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ at the same time as ‘The Boleyn Inheritance’, I got them from a book magazine that had them on offer. You can generally find them for between £4 and £7 each depending on where you look. Amazon for example has the same copy of the book as I have for £4.99 new, which in my opinion is a reasonable price for this particular book. The Book The Other Boleyn Girl is one in a series of books about ... ...the life of Mary Boleyn. Mary is Anne Boleyns younger sister, not much is known about her as the focus was always more on Anne than Mary. This book portrays Anne differently to how some other books portray her, she is shown through the eyes of a loving sister rather than the King or another onlooker. There are many twists and turns in the book, and parts where it is impossible to put down. Even though everyone knows how the book ends before even ...

The secret war in the north of Ireland uncovered.
Advantages: Full of information, opinions and theories. Disadvantages: absolutely none.
This very informative book by the Belfast author, Martin Dillon, is sure to give anyone a very enjoyable read. It contains many shocking facts and theories regarding the period of the 'troubles' in the north of Ireland. While reading this book I was amazed at how much knowledge could be displayed in a book without being boring. The author displays personal opinions and theories throughout the book and backs these up with facts from the recent period ... ...interesting information about the war between the IRA and the Brits and the dirty tactics which were employed, including the use of employers and the possible use of 'shoot to kill' tactics against suspected IRA men.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I found out a lot of information which I didn't know before and yet I wasn't bored, the book was actually very interesting and enthralling. I didn't want to put in down until I had it finished.

The Glass Lake by Maeve Binchy
Advantages: Thoroughly entertaining Disadvantages: You'll stay up all night to see what happens
...your usual genre preference.
The story is centred around Kit McMahon and the consequences of her mother's death when Kit was 13. It shows the relationship and understanding she has with her mother, even as a child, and the sometimes tempestuous relationship she has with her best friend Clio Kelly.
Maeve Binchy has a rare knack of really making you believe that you know the characters in the story, you get sucked in to their world and will find ... ...the ability to put herself into each very different character and make each one of them totally believable. You'll really believe that this town exists and that these people really live there.
The story draws you in from the very start - the mystery of Helen McMahon, who on paper should be very content but realistically is restless and unhappy. She makes a decision that will have a profound effect on a lot of people's lives and then has to live ...

Masterful Historical Naval Tale
Advantages: A Gripping Historical Adventure Disadvantages: Maybe a Little Too Detailed For Some Taste
The Hundred Days is the 3rd Patrick O’Brian book I have read and they are wonderful. What first intrigued me was the cover of a book that a gentleman was reading, whilst sat opposite me on the train on my way home from work one evening. It was a grand and detailed illustration of a 19th Century sailing ship. I have a rather unfulfilled passion for the high seas, from the time of the Spanish Main through to the advent of steam power. I paid a visit ... ...your faith and perseverance. To the O’Brian fan club, I offer reassurance: the master has turned in another great performance.
To those not yet addicted, I owe nothing short of an explanation. The Hundred Days is the 19th novel in a series which has been called “the best historical novels ever written”. The series is focussed on two main characters, Jack Aubrey, a sure minded, skilled and courageous Royal Navy Officer who has risen through the ranks, ...
