I live in the area in which Millar operated in 1944. As far as I know, his is the only first-hand description in English of local Resistance activities. It should be far better known and yet local people generally are still reticent and/or uninformed. His story is factual and fascinating, with names and places that can easily be followed on the ground. Those of my local friends with sufficient English have appreciated my loan of this book for the light it sheds on a subject that their parents/ grandparents never discussed with them.
