Disadvantages: Makes it all too clear how the US would treat the Indian tribes in later years

...The language is academic, but the author makes it friendly, surprisingly so considering that the content is the bloodshed and cruelty of the West against peoples throughout the world. The book could use some illustrations, but it is certainly worth reading for the story told and for the manner of the storytelling. Advantages: Excellent account of unprecidented war trial
Disadvantages: Can be hard reading at times

It is hard to read these kinds of things objectively; for example, my own father served in the British 8th Army during the war, and I would have been a fair way up the regime's hit list, so I can't claim to be in any way neutral.
