10 inches. Most women would pay the extra for 10 inches so im told........
So once I explained to the guys in the shop I wanted a 42 inch TV, It must be Silver (wife's request) and it must sit on the wall, I was pointed towards the Hitachi 42PD.
With a flick of the switch, we were in business. A beautifully sharp and crisp picture greeted me which was a pleasant suprise. After all it was 5 inches bigger than my friends TV and I think the picture is even better. His is a Panasonic screen which is supposedly the best for its money but im not sold after seeing mine.
After a brief discussion about the connections, I was again quite happy it would suit our needs. It does however only have one scart input so if you need more, you will need a switcher box (about £30)
While on the subject of connections, perhaps I should explain some ...

I Bought my Hitachi 42PD5200 from www.247electrical.co.uk for £2268.99 (With p+p) as i wanted the pay 12month later option.
I had spent a long time looking around the net on various sites that review Plasma and as it had won a collection of awards i bought the hitachi.
The tv is great looking and the picture is excellent quality when used with Dvd or Sky + though nowhere near as impressive using the standard ariel connected tv channels (Not sure if its as using a ariel extention or not) Sound quality is also brilliant nice crisp sounds and good bass with its srs trubass sound.
The remote is nice looking designed though can get a little confusing as im new to it with all the buttons !
The tv has a built in tuner so all the connections are on the back of the tv there is only 1 Scart ! ,2 Component inputs, 2 Composite, 1 S-video, 4 ...
Advantages: Good looks, easy to use menu, great picture Disadvantages: haven't found any yet
This is great piece of kit and is a worthwhile addition to any home cinema setup. The look of the panel is very smart with its integrated speakers and blackish finish.
This would be classed as a middle of the road plasma. Not cheap, but not overly expensive. I think it gives a good balance of cost and quality without breaking the bank. It has loads of great features on the easy to use menu system and enough connectors to keep an army of technophiles happy.
The picture quality is fantastic but dont expect that as a given. As with any 'sensative' technology format you need to make sure you have the right combination of contectors, source signal, picture setup etc. Get it right and the Hitachi will provide hours of endless picture (and sound) satisfaction. ...
