This T.V is that good that i have 2 of them! I bought my first set back in 2001 for my lounge as my Akai apparently 'died'. As soon as the Akai packed in i was down a my local electrical retailer picking a replacement. There were so many to choose from at that time, i had in mind that i wanted a 28" flat screen one that was a reasonable make. And then i see the Hitachi at a bargain price of only £399 and it included the stand! And i was quite lucky as i got the last one they had in stock according to the sales guy :D! And then in 2005 i bought another one to go in my bedroom as i was that impressed with the first one!

Well as soon as i bought it i couldnt wait to get it home and set up! And when i did i was you could say very pleased. It was quite heavy but i got it out of the box and put it on its stand without too much trouble. And boy did it look the part, sat in the corner of my living room all shiny and new. Back in those days when LCD's werent out so it was quite advanced.

Now to tell you about the T.V's appearance and features on the outside. Once it was all set up it worked a treat, it looks really good on its stand as the stand is designed for that T.V only. It has 2 glass shelves which have arms underneath to make it look like they are floating. These are quite strong and can hold some weight, as i had the original Sky+ box which was really heavy on one and a VCR on the other. The stand is sprayed in the same shade of silver as the TV itself which again makes it look 10 times better.

The T.V itself is great too. It is flat screened to provide a wider viewing angle with 2 scart socketc, audio & video inputs on the front & back of the set which is quite unusual but handy. On the front behind a flap eneath the screen is the headphone socket, along with the volume, channel changing buttonsand the audio video inputs all hidden away neatly.

It doesnt have any amazing featurs apart from the basic sleep timer, parental lock and an equalizer for the sound etc. All the basics a TV should have really.

The picture it produces even after 5 years of continuous use is still very impressive, clear bright and colourfull, just like it should be. I have like i said had it for 5 years and never had any faults with it whatsoever. Its had some hammering over the years with continuous use. I also find that it can go extremely loud when put to the test on one of the music channels without distorting to much.

The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I would say that the remote that came with the first set is alot more robust than the one that came with the second one. Still both of them look great and work fine.

I find them both quite stylish against the new LCD and Plasma TV's of today. I even think that the Hitachi CRT TV gives a better picture than some of the LCD ones.

And then after the television in my bedroom broke down i decided to by another one of the Hitachi's as i was that pleased with my first one. And neither of them have ever given me any trouble at all. They are in fact still sold in a few electrical retailers, Comet being one of them sell them at £199 which i think is very reasonable for such a gret and reliable TV.

I think that the fact i bought a second one proves how pleased i am with it, the second is coming up to 2 years old and again no problems (touch wood)!

A fantastic buy that has never let me down that i would definetly reccomend to others! Please feel free to ask any questions should you need any extra info and i will be happy to help.
