Manufacturer's product description
Hitachi's Super TFT technology offers viewing angles to rival CRT technology. An all round viewing angle of 160° means it can be utilised in the less than ideal working environments most users have to struggle with whilst retaining its brightness, contrast and color fidelity. Quite simply the clarity, color reproduction and sharpness of the screen surpasses conventional LCD's. The panel is capable of displaying 16.19 million colors by using space modulated Frame Rate Control which produces an effective 256 grey levels per picture element.

The Hitachi CML174SXW-B is currently one of the highest specification LCD TFT monitors on the LCD market. I purchased one from CRS Solutions in December of 2002, and I am highly impressed.
The monitor itself is 17" of pure joy, housed in a top quality, sleek black casing.
The looks of the monitor are absolutely superb, and it is excellent for those just wishing to add a bit of style to their desktop.
LCD monitors are becoming ever more popular, and it looks like this particular monitor, and others of its ilk could be the monitors to break the stereotype of slow response, blurry LCD's.

Advantages: Quite, low power consumption, high capacity Disadvantages: Expensive
...I have been using a Hitachi TravelStar for a long time now, I have had not problems with it and I have given it a good run for the price I paid for it.
I originally started out with the 80gb model of this hard disk. I had absolutely no problems with it. (I now have the 100gb model as the laptop it was in was broken in a car accident).
I had the 80gb model for a year and never gave me any trouble. It was:
· Fast
· Reliable
· Quite
· Super low power consumption
· Had a quick spin up time
· Very quick seek time
· Standard 5 year warranty
· Very helpful warranty/customer support
Hitachi's customer warranty claims support is like no other that I have come across before. You go onto there website, fill out a warrant claim form; package the device (hard disk in my case) in the way they require. Once you have sent it to them...

Advantages: Value for money, great performance, additional drive utilities , SATA 300Gb/s Disadvantages: Little noisy
...better I guess.
Please note that SATA II is not SATA 300Gb/s. SATA II is a new SATA technology which is still on the drawing board. Some people have confusingly used the wrong terminology to describe SATA 300Gb/s.
