I've had this for about two years now. It has never let me down and is probably the best dvd player i've used (although i don't use many others!).
---- LOOKS This looks like any other player. It is silver in colour. The front panel has a sliding port for the disc. There is also a black lcd display for details during playing (e.g. point in movie, etc). There is also a list of buttons which can be used in case the remote breaks down. These include:
POWER
EJECT
VIRTUAL SURROUND
STOP
PAUSE
SKIP
MENU & SETUP-INCLUDING NAVIGATION ARROWS.
The player is quite small. But not as small as dvd players coming out today. It is about the same size as a vcr player (the new ones). Overall, it looks quite good.
---- PICTURE The picture quality it gives is quite good. Crisp and clear. No problems with colour or representing texture, etc.
---- SOUND The sound quality is quite good. There seems to be no problem in dealing with surround sound.
---- FEATURES There are a lot of features on this player. These include: skip; forward and rewind (up to 100 * play speed- subtitles can be seen in double play speed!); subtitles; zoom(you can zoom into the picture or watch just one portion of the screen when played); and angle change (for those movies with multi angle filming-e.g.count of monte cristo!); display and many more. The player plays multi-region discs, including dvds and vcds from just about everywhere.
---- INSTRUCTIONS/SET-UP The set-up is quite easy. There is only the power cable and the scart lead that need to be connected. If you have any problems, contact the user-friendly manual.
---- REMOTE This remote is quite proficient at dealing with the range of features and functions available on the player. There seems to be a button for everything mentioned above. If not, use the menu which can let you access whats not available. I have to say out of all the buttons, the most used has to be the display button which lets you see how long has gone/ how long is left in the chapter/movie.
---- VERDICT Good dvd player. I am definitely satisfied with the £100 i paid for it a couple of years back.
