Manufacturer's product description
The latest DZ-HS300E Hybrid DVD+HDD CAM is a kind of camcorder that combines the capacity of an 8GB Hitachi hard disk with the convenience of a Multiformat+ DVD burner. Shoot 6 hours on the HDD then press the one touch dubbing button to burn movies from HDD to DVD. Users can enjoy the advantage of Hybrid CAM; shooting longer and burning multiple DVDs for fast and easy sharing without a PC or other DVD burning hardware.
Advantages: Good quality, cool features, allows DVD RAM disks. Disadvantages: Sleep, is not very effective,It's bulky, & No Touch.
...The HitachiDZ-GX5060E DVD Camcorder, this is a great quality camcorder that captures the footage on to 8mm (Mini) DVD disks. I decided to get this camera in Curry's, because:
I didn't Want Mini DV tapes (I think their getting a little old now)
I needed a good camera to take on holiday, and to make youtube videos outside.
I'm going to set this review up in a few sections, Design, On screen Options, My Opinion, and Accessories.
So, here it goes.
DESIGN
The design of this camera is quite sleek, although not that light or compact. It fits into my hand nicely, but could be a tad lighter. The colour of the camera is silver and Grey. On one side their is the 8mm Disk drive, which allows you to put in DVD R, RW and RAM Disks. So far I have been using TDK DVD+RW Disks.
On the other side you have the screen, with pulls out, and can...

Advantages: Record in full HD, very light, 5.3 mega-pixel camera, reliable Disadvantages: large exterior, small screen, pricey
...The HitachiDZ-BD7OE is the first ever Blu-ray camcorder. It has the ability to record in full High Definition (1080p). You can buy this very camcorder for £569-over £600 if you look hard enough on the internet, which does seem a lot for a camcorder.
Blu-ray technology is fairly new, so it is fair to understand the initial prices of all blu-ray compatible devices will be high. This is the first camcorder which incorporates blu-ray technology. When more and more companies release similar devices, the prices of blu-ray camcorders (including the DZ-BD70E) will drop due to high levels of competition.
Now, leaving the price 'issues' of the camcorder and moving onto other areas of the camcorder. You may be pleased to know that you will be able to buy the DZ-BD70E in only the standard grey and silver colour. It is a fairly large...

Advantages: Records direct to DVD-RAM/R, connects to your computer as a virtual drive Disadvantages: Cost of discs
...Being the proud owner of a DVD recorder with a hard drive, I felt that I would benefit from having a camcorder that recorded straight onto DVDs. Why, you might ask, would I want this? Well by recording straight onto a DVD I would be able to cut out a conversion in making my final DVDs.
With my last camcorder I had to play it into the recorder at real time, and the recording would go through a digital-analogue-digital conversion that would result in loss of quality. However, with a camcorder that records direct to DVD, I would be able to load it straight into the recorder, and "high speed dub", that is make a direct digital copy without any conversion, this should result in no loss of quality.
As this was my only real requirement, I checked out several price comparison sites and found the HitachiDZ MV550E at Dixons for the very...
