Advantages: loud, and has two alarms Disadvantages: quite big in size
After failing to get up three mornings in a row I felt it was high time to purchase another alarm clock, preferably one with a fog horn attached to it! So I hot footed it down to my local curry’s with a budget of £10. There weren’t many to choose from in this price bracket but one really caught my attention, it was a clock radio with a mirror front so I could scare myself into getting up by just looking in the mirror!!!
Features ...this is mains powered with a battery back up , my previous one was just battery operated and I could never be bothered to keep buying new batteries.
-Dual alarm, which means it has two built in alarms which gives me twice the chance of waking up.
-Built in AM/FM radio which is great for listening to whilst pottering about plus if you set it to really loud and use it as the alarm it don’t half wake you up with a jolt- perfect! The clock ... more
After failing to get up three mornings in a row I felt it was high time to purchase another alarm clock, preferably one with a fog horn attached to it! So I hot footed it down to my local curry’s with a budget of £10. There weren’t many to choose from in this price bracket but one really caught my attention, it was a clock radio with a mirror front so I could scare myself into getting up by just looking in the mirror!!!
Features -------------------
-Most importantly for me this is mains powered with a battery back up , my previous one was just battery operated and I could never be bothered to keep buying new batteries. -Dual alarm, which means it has two built in alarms which gives me twice the chance of waking up. -Built in AM/FM radio which is great for listening to whilst pottering about plus if you set it to really loud and use it as the alarm it don’t half wake you up with a jolt- perfect! The clock radio comes with a wire which is the aerial for the alarm however I didn’t have to move it or mess with it all and the FM radio is perfect. -It also has an alarm as mentioned before, sleep and snooze function. The snooze is my fave and I keep hitting it over and over until its time to get up.
One bad point I need to mention here is that it is quite big as you can see from the pic its round with a mirror front but its about 20cms in height by about 25cms in width, so if you have a small bedside table that’s its probably not for you.
My experience --------------------
The best feature for me is the dual alarm you can set each one individually so for example my alarm 1 I set for 7.45 am with the radio to come on. Then I will snooze that and set the second one for 7.55am with the beeping noise and they both end up going off together which is really annoying and makes you get up to switch it off! The alarm doesn’t shut off either unless you tell it to by either hitting snooze or manually turning it off. This is good as eventually you should wake up. The numbers for the time are an orange colour but this is not too bright when the lights are off, but enough to be able to see it in the daytime as well. Also you can change the brightness as there is a hi and low button on the back. To set the clock and alarms is very simple there are two buttons on the back which you press the top one for up and the bottom one for down. The top one moves through the numbers really quickly and in increments of what seems like 10 minutes, and then the bottom one moves down more slowly and individually to make sure you set the correct time. To activate the alarms you simply set them to the time required then push the buttons to on and choose whether to be woken by an alarm or beep. There is also a headphone jack built in so you can listen to the radio in private.
In conclusion this is a funky alarm with better features than your average clock radio and the good news is it got me up!!!! Available form most leading electrical retailers but I got mine from curry’s for £9.99.
Advantages: LCD Display, Good frequency, it wakes you up Disadvantages: Functions do not go beyond any other alarm
...set up.
CONCLUSION
The Hitachi KC-82 Clock Radio cost me £9.99 from my local Currys and was reasonably priced when compared to similar products on the market. Its silver chrome effect look also means it is aesthetically pleasing and will fit in with most bedroom styles.
At the end of the day, it does everything a Clock Radio is expected to do and comes at a reasonable price. So if you need help getting up in the morning, my advice is either go ...
