We purchased a Hitachi 28" Pure Flat Screen TV in the January 2003 sales. A bargain reduced from £600 to £389.
Unfortunately by February 2004 we had a problem with it. A grey screen with wavey diagonal lines and it kept turning itself off after about 5 seconds.
Anyway - stupid like we didnt take the extended guarantee - which i would advise everyone to do - if you can afford it obviously.
The TV was taken away by a local engineer and basically needed some extensive welding and it cost us £170 and we were left without the TV for 3 weeks.
Well we werent happy as you can imagine so we tried to contact Hitachi.
We telephoned our local Miller Brothers store who supplied it and they only had a fax number for Hitachi - nothing else !!!
So I searched the web and found a few addresses and forward the original reciept ...

Advantages: Lots of room for recordings, tapes 2 shows at the same time, can pause live TV Disadvantages: Your restricted to what you can receive through your aerial, no digital PDC alternative
channels and watch another but its fairly uncommon to need to do that... some cheaper PVRs (or whatever you want to call them, Hard Disk Recorders) only let you record one channel at a time. You can also record a show while watching a recording, so its pretty flexible.
One other feature it comes with, that makes it more like something like Sky+ is the timeshift function, which basically lets you pause and rewind live TV. If you press the pause button on your remote, then it will start to record the show your watching live and when you get back from answering the phone or going to the bathroom, you can pick it up where you left it, which is handy, though I often forget I can do this and haven't used it all that often. Also I've noticed under a settings screen, that it only has a certain amount of memory allocated for this function, which isn ...

Despite my membership with Lovefilm, I still occasionally pick up the odd cheap DVD to have in reserve for when my rented films are in transit. As I was feeling a little delicate over the weekend following a few too many glasses of wine on Friday night, I took a dive into my reserve collection of films and plumped for The Bogus Witch Project, a series of spoofs of the infamous Blair Witch Project. Now if you've ever seen The Blair Witch Project, you'd think there was sufficient material to send up in a spoof horror. Unfortunately, the makers of The Bogus Witch Project seemed to struggle and instead have produced the most diabolical attempt at comedy horror that I have ever witnessed in my life.
