Advantages: Plenty of storage space and very quiet Disadvantages: Isn't the biggest guide on the market nore the fastest but not the most expensive either
The Hitachi Deskstar is a great little hard drive which can be had for around £40.
I bought this hard drive for my first computer i built and am extreamly impressed with its preformance. It is exceptionaly quiet i have never really heard a peep from it over the sound of the fans and DVD drive which isn't really that loud. It seems to run at a reasonable temperature, I have felt it before after the coputer has been running for a couple of hours and it has been reasonably cool nothing to worry about.
The drive is a massive 500Gb which is plenty for the average user easily fitting all of your music, documents and videos on with little trouble and acres of space to spare.
The drive is very easy to install just the simple matter of plugging in two cables one from the power supply and another connected to the motherboard.
The drive ...
Advantages: Maximizes the amount of data vs the cost of the product Disadvantages: heat issues, cord connectivity, and small installation problems.
Some people call me ignorant for using Maxtor, but I honestly only order Maxtor for my hard drives. Now the only downside to the Maxtor 500GB is that it is an external drive that, if not careful, can overheat and cause connectivity problems, transfer speed issues, or just annoyance from when the usb gets knocked out. That being said, if you can get past the downside of have an external I would recommend this product to anyone not using a Mac. The only reason I do not recommend this to Mac owners is because Mac is the only type of computer that I myself will not touch. I have filled this thing up to about half it potential and when I do manage to full it up, I will write agian to let you know the outcome. ...
Advantages: storage capacity Disadvantages: makes computer bit slow
the 500gb storage capacity is the high light of Iomega ScreenPlay Multimedia Drive it is the perfect product for maintaining our dvd collection and songs collection. it supports wide formats like WAV, WMA, MPEG-1/2/4, MP3, OGG, AC3, AVI, DivX, XviD and JPEG file formats the remote of this drive is very helpful and made this product convenient to use the price of 100 dollars is very less compared to its features the is perfect thing to store data and it is portable so we can carry where ever we want now a days most of the tvs are having usb port this device can directly connect to tv and watch movies are listen songs what ever we want. this is a superb product in my opinion. ...

Manufacturer's product description
The Ultrastar A7K1000 delivers up to one terabyte of storage capacity in a standard 3.5-inch form factor, filling a vital need for high-density storage in the enterprise. As the third-generation design, based on the popular Deskstar E7K500, the Ultrastar A7K1000 continues to set the standard in enterprise-class reliability and performance for lower duty cycle enterprise applications. With a unique 5-platter design, Hitachi has relaxed the bit densities to achieve higher reliability. The Ultrastar A7K1000 is built using the industry's most reliable perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) recording heads and media. The Ultrastar A7K1000 features a 3 Gb/s SATA interface supporting key features in the Serial-ATA specification including Native Command Queuing (NCQ), staggered spin-up and hot-swap capability. The Ultrastar A7K1000 allows for configuration scalability and with the same physical connector as Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives, it's ideal for use in mixed-drive environments. In multidrive environments, rotational vibration, which results from the vibration of neighboring drives in a system, can degrade hard drive performance. To aid in maintaining high performance, the Ultrastar A7K1000 incorporates enhanced Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) technology providing up to 50% improvement over the previous generation against performance degradation, leading the industry.Hitachi's Ultrastar A7K1000 extends the company's long-standing tradition of performance and capacity leadership. The proven drive design enables high reliability and availability to customer data. Ultrastar quality, performance, and world-class technical support and service provides customers with a lower total cost of ownership over previous generations.
