Hitman: Codename 47 is one of the first games which I played all the way through and wanted to do the same with Silent Assasin before I had to format my computer. The first game I played, asking for a stealth mode for success was Thief, but Hitman seems to have brought a new meaning for stealth. Silent Assassin didn't seem like it was that much stealth based compared to the first game as I was able to go through all the enemies with no stealth at all, even if I had to get the label of a mass murderer in the game. But the game was good in both ways, and as Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money are already released, there is no doubt about the fact that there are more to come, including the Hitman movie starring Tim Olyphant.

THE RETURN OF THE CONTRACT KILLER
The merciless killer Agent 47 is a changed man in this game, as he has taken refuge in a monastery in Sicily and has put all the bad things behind as he is leading a peaceful life there as a gardener with Father Vittorio. For the first time in the series, the stealth fighter looks like a man who is longing for peace. But as the Father is kidnapped, Agent 47 is forced to go back to his old ways of life to save him and this time may have to be more ruthless and violent than ever. The good old contract killer is back again and we will have to travel to various parts of the world on a number of missions including Sicily, St. Petersburg, Punjab and a few more.

The gamer controlls Agent 47 once again, and this time the situation looks a bit different. Even if the stealth is always preffered, we can win by simply shooting around, especially in the first few missions. But there is a post-match evaluation system which ranks a player between mass murder and silent assassin, and the latter on happens to be the highest of rankings. If the player follows the stealth mode and gets the highest ranking, he will be rewarded with bonus weapons which makes this game different from the shoot-at-sight games. This factor makes the game more of a tactical one and keeps you thinking all the time.

THE VERY MUCH TACTICAL WAY OF GAMING
There is the suspicion meter which helps you find out if the opponent has got some doubts about you or your motive. As you can change your outfit all the time from any of the fallen enemies, its more fun even if there is high chance to get noticed even in those outfits if you stay near an opponent for long, runs around, enter some of those restricted areas or forget to holster your weapons when you are not in a guard or soldier outfit. There are lots of weapons in the game which can be collected from different levels, but not all can be equipped when the player is leaving for a mission. Just like Max Payne, not all weapons can be carried at the same time too.

Once again, there is no option to jump in the game, but actually there is no need for that. There is only a limited amount of saves in the game which varies according to the difficulty level in which you are playing. This means that if you have no saves left and you do something stupid after killing a large wave of enemies, you will have to start from the last save and do it again. Sometimes we may even have to start from the very beginning itself and thus lose patience.

THE SILENT ASSASSIN GIVES MORE TO THINK ABOUT
Sometimes the missions can get very long and we may end up going the wrong way. This is when the game begins to get boring. Another occasion is when we don't get to understand the objectives clearly and we can't find a generator which we are to shut down or we can't identify the gang leader or millitary officer whom we are to eliminate in between all the other characters which look alike. But almost all the time, the game keeps us interested. The game leads us through a killer's mastermind very well, even if the opponents aren't that intelligent throughout the game.

The graphics of the game is beautiful, and they have managed it with so much low requirements. Agent 47 looks better than ever and the opponents are just a level behind him in detail. As this is a third person game, the palyer character has to look good through out the game. The environment looks the best in the game, especially those levels in the monastery as well as Japan. Some levels may make the gamer forget about the game and think about taking screenshot. People who have played Blood Money may have put this game's graphics behind, but it was great at the time of release and seems to impress even now.

HITMAN JUST SCORES AGAIN AND AGAIN
The game also scores well in music as its very much suited for the situation all the time, and its catchy for sure. The various sound effects are good and so is the voice-acting even if it tend to get repetitive at times. Sound plays a major part in the game of Hitman because it is something which keeps the game going, as making more noise can lead to the people detecting you and you can also listen to the other noises around to know what all are going on and if people are around. Thus the success here depends very much on your speakers too.

This was the version of Hitman which I spent maximum time, even if I spent more time taking screenshots of the lovely graphics. The game is a great choice due to its variety in gameplay and of course you can choose your way of killing and winning a mission or sometimes not to kill at all. For all the gamers out there, Hitman: Silent Assassin is a real challenge. May be the movie on the game may increase the popularity of the game even more or may be it can go the exact opposite way. We can only wait and watch right now :-)
