The main story of Hitman – Blood Money focuses on Agent 47, a clone designed to be the perfect assassin. A rather freakish looking character with his bald head, smart suits and arsenal of toys designed to kill. The game progresses in a series of flashbacks told via a Senator to a reporter where he outlines Agent 47’s life story and at certain points the gamer then gets to take control of those parts of the story, living the flashback.

The movies that are used primarily to tell the story are so very lifelike and played through a HD television show off the true power, graphics and sound capabilities of the Xbox 360. Inter-game movies regardless of the game or console are normally better than the actual in-game graphics but in this case they are not, the stunning graphics and level of detail are carried through to the actual game platform and when taking into consideration the fluid movement of characters, everything about the graphics adds to the air of realism to the game and draws the gamer into game as though really there and in control. The gore and blood splatter that occurs when killing someone does look very realistic, well, as realistic as a Hollywood movie anyway.

The controls are all quite straightforward, but a number of movements and killing actions take a while to master. I decided not to read the instructions and dived straight into the game only to realize that I was not going to get very far doing my “waste anything that moves with a big gun” routine. Stealth is the key, and once mastered, which takes a good few hours, you are the King of Kill. Sneaking up on guards to strangle them from behind to avoid detection and learning how to disable CCTV cameras that can track your movement. As Agent 47 starts each mission in a lovely tailored black suit there is an added feature of being able to kill and steal the outfit of other people within the game, such as police officers, FBI agents, garbage collectors or janitors.

Hitman – Blood Money was one of the first purchases I made after getting my Xbox 360 as it was on special offer in Game for only £34.99, the graphics according to a number of gaming magazines were exceptional and the gameplay was lauded as engrossing and strategic meaning that I would have to get the grey matter working if I was going to complete the game rather than rampaging around wasting everyone who looked at me sideways. I had not played any of the other games in the Hitman series so I was stepping into the unknown and I am so glad I did. As soon as I started playing I was drawn in by the magical movie introductions, the amazing graphics, stunning gameplay and totally immersed within the story. I was Agent 47.

This game provided me with weeks of fun thanks to the long, and varied missions available along with the large selection of difficulty levels. The hours passed like minutes I was that absorbed and I fear that even though I have finished the game on a number of occasions, I still keep going back to try different approaches to each different scenario. A wonderful purchase and recommended to every gamer out there aged 18+. Go on, show off the true power of your Xbox 360 and make sure that Hitman – Blood Money is in your collection.
