Advantages Advantages Works very well, fairly inexpensive, easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit runny

A couple of summer's ago, my husband gutted our old kitchen and put me in a nice new one with all the mod cons, including my new halogen hob! He told me I needed to be careful when cleaning it and the maufacturer's instruction for cleaning recommended Hob Brite, by Homecare. I tootled off to Tesco and found it very easily, in with the rest of the household cleaning products. It cost at the time about £1.25 but it's since gone up in price a little and the last bottle I bought cost me £1.39 from Sainsbury's - the bottle contains 300ml, and to my knowledge does not come in any different sizes ... more

Advantages Advantages If used regularly and preferably when your hob is new, this will work wonders

Hob Brite – for sparkling clean hobs Just over a year ago now, we were in the position of being lucky enough to finally pay off our mortgage; Thirteen years early I might add. What did we immediately do? (Stupidly, some might say). We went out and bought the most beautiful fitted kitchen on three years interest free credit, so we had more debt. A different debt, but debt nonetheless. Along with the glossy, jet black sparkly units, came a glossy, jet black, even more sparkly counter top, into which was to be set, slap bang in the centre, our new fangled touch control hob. Don’t get me started ... more

Advantages Advantages This keeps your hob bright and shiny.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

The ceramic and halogen hobs look good but it all depends if you can keep them looking good. Up until now I have always been used to an ordinary gas hob, four burners that need the occasional scrub to bring them back to life. Recently we have changed over and now we have a ceramic hob, at first it took a lot of getting used to, after being used to a visible flame it seemed strange to be cooking on a flat shiny hob. Initially I cleaned the hob with a soft cloth that had been washed through in hot soapy water and it worked but it soon became clear that I needed to use something else, the hob was ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, removes burnt-on deposits, gives a great surface shine

INTRODUCTION Hob Brite is a cleaning agent for ceramic and halogen hobs. Now, as you might know, if you have one of these hobs, they have a flat, glass surface. This is supposed to make them easy to clean, as you are supposed to be able to just wipe them over, without the hassle of having to, for example, take gas rings apart. However, I quickly learnt after acquiring a ceramic hob in my new home that a quick wipe-down after cooking does not keep the hob clean. Whenever a saucepan boils over, or food is otherwise spilt onto the elements embedded in the hob, nasty, burnt-on deposits build up ... more

BACKGROUND ******************* In my never ending quest for a clean house , with as little effort as possible , I have been trying yet more cleaning products . I actually bought Hob Brite a few months ago and have been using it since , about once a week to polish up my hob unit . I have a Baumatic inset oven with a ceramic gas hob . I have had this a few years now but it is still in reasonable condition as I try to look after it . I used to just give it a wipe with a mixture of warm water and washing up liquid , cleaning the metal burner rings with a scouring powder or pad . This scouring ... more
