I first dealt with Hodgsons back in 2000 when I purchased my BMW.
Back them there was a huge price difference with UK prices and mainland European prices. Now it’s still cheaper to purchase in Europe but the UK have in the last 18 months really been discounting and pulling back the customers.
Back in 2000, I was quoted £26k for my BMW in my local dealership. Hodgsons quoted my £20,000 for the exact same car, built by the same people in the same factory in Germany!
Me being me I contacted a few dealers in Germany and they quoted me pretty much the same price as Hodgsons. But if I had bought the car independently in Germany, I would have had to sort out the VAT payment, the registering of the car with the DVLA, the shipping to the UK under temporary number plates, and all the paperwork and hassle that comes with it.
Hodgsons did all that within the price!
All I had to do was get to the collection point (they have a few in the UK) and pick up my brand new car, fully registered and taxed for a year!
Your probably thinking how much was their fee? Well the great thing is they don't charge a fee to the customer. You get directly invoiced by the main dealership in Germany, you pay nothing to Hodgsons! A lot of Import brokers in market charge well into four figures.
You hear many horror stories about these import brokers disappearing with all their customers’ money, the way Hodgsons operate, you have no risk. They get paid a commission from the dealers for each sale.
The service they give is also excellent, even 3 years on they remember me by name!

I bought a car through Hodgson's in 2000. I found them very helpful, although I did have a couple of problems. They gave me some incorrect information on insurance and the Dutch dealer was not happy with a bank draft, but they didn't find this out until I had already gone to Holland to collect the car.
