Cooling and soothing

Nothing

I use some lovely Aloe Vera Gel from Holland and Barrett and it cost me only £2.49 for 100mls in the half price sale that was on a little while ago. I had read about this in a magazine and as I have some skin irritation problems I thought it would be a good idea, especially as it was on a special...

Good value and organic

Doesn't moisturize the skin

Cost: £5.99 typically or £2.49 in the frequent Holland and Barrett half price sales!! Quantity: 100 mls Container: Toothpaste like tube with screw top lid. Unfortunately the polymer container doesn't seem to re-cyclable, which is a pity considering the product seems to be fairly ethical otherwise...

If you enjoy exploring natural or homeopathic remedies, how they work and what they contain then Holland and Barrett is the place for you. I often pay them a visit, the sales assistants are pretty genned up on the stores products and more often than not if you give them some background...

Effectivness of product

No big disadvantages

What is it for? Aloe Vera has long been used for many medicinal purposes, in this case the aloe vera in the form of gel is mostly used to treat scars (from burns etc), strectch marks, dry skin and skin irritations due to bio active skin treatment. I found this product was very effective against...

a little pricey

I first purchased Holland and Barret’s Aloe Vera gel many years ago when recommended by a friend to soothe an annoying and itchy blotch that had appeared on my hands. I have since repurchased several times and used to treat other such ailments as well as to just keep my hands soft and cared for...

I first purchased myself a tube of Holland & Barrett Aloe Vera Gel upon the recommendation of a work colleague who was suffering from eczema. I was just suffering from patches of dry skin, but thought it worth a go, as I didn't want to irritate it with my usual perfumed body creams. It can be...

Helpful on cuts and chapped skin

Did not miosturise my skin at all

With all the cold weather now, I have been experiencing very dry skin. I have also been looking for a more natural product, as they may be better for my skin. I came across the Holland and Barrett Aloe Vera Gel in a sale in the health store so decided to try it out especially since I heard many...

None that I can think of

If you have read any of my other reviews, you will know that I work in Holland and Barrett, so use loads of their products. Aloe Vera gel is fantastic, and I've always got some in my room ready for any skin emergencies! It is good in place of an expensive aftersun gel, as it cools, and actually...

Anything a bit more servere it doesn't cut it

There seems to have been a recent resurgence in popularity of Aloe Vera products. It was over the course of the last month or so that I had 3 or 4 people mention using the product to me... after 28 years of having never heard about it. Regarding the gel, it does wonders for your skin I was told...

Burns and tightens the skin

After having laser treatment for rosacea I was told I had to buy Aloe Vera Gel. At the time, I bought Sk:n aloe vera gel as it was recommended by the clinic I went to. It was extremely calming and soothing. As it cost £7.50 for a 100ml tube, I wanted to find it a little cheaper. I saw the aloe...

I love this gel. Holland & Barret do two sizes, I think, 100 and 200ml and both are really good value for money as a little bit of gel goes a long way. I've been using aloe vera for years. It's brilliant for sunburn but it's also very good for dry or irritated skin. I don't get burnt very often...

Question

Does anyone know where the aloe vera comes from and what the potency is of it?
Open question Answer

Answer

Aloe Vera comes from the aloe vera tree its a tree grown in most botanical gardens, its very good for many things including burns and skin. Since i used it there is not really any side effects, its a mild thing but i guess too much of anything can have bad side effects, but i used it and had none.

Question

how long can you keep a tube? Is there a use by date?

How long can you keep aloe vera gel?

All products now have to have best before advice. From personal experience I find keeping the gel in original tube closed in a cool drawer it lasts well in excess of 12 months from opening. Basically, I always decide if it looks, feels and smells alright it is. Bought Gel has a small amount stabaliser and preservative added. So fresh gel, I'd keep in a fridge for not more than a few months.
