Advantages Advantages Good value and organic

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't moisturize the skin

Cost: £5.99 typically or £2.49 in the frequent Holland and Barrett half price sales!! Quantity: 100 mls Container: Toothpaste like tube with screw top lid. Unfortunately the polymer container doesn't seem to re-cyclable, which is a pity considering the product seems to be fairly ethical otherwise. Still, it is easy to open and close, even when the Gel is smothered all over your hands. Description: The product case describes this Certified Aloe Vera Gel as "soothing, hand filleted, organic Aloe Vera Gel" . This claim is backed by the visible certification trade stamps from the International ... more

If you enjoy exploring natural or homeopathic remedies, how they work and what they contain then Holland and Barrett is the place for you. I often pay them a visit, the sales assistants are pretty genned up on the stores products and more often than not if you give them some background information then one of the staff will be able to point you in the right direction. I will be the first to agree with anyone who says that natural healing doesn`t come cheap but it far outweighs having to take prescribed medicine if it is something that you can easily and safely treat yourself. Naturally if ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cooling and soothing

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing

I use some lovely Aloe Vera Gel from Holland and Barrett and it cost me only £2.49 for 100mls in the half price sale that was on a little while ago. I had read about this in a magazine and as I have some skin irritation problems I thought it would be a good idea, especially as it was on a special offer. It is in a white tube and it reminds me of a tube of toothpaste. This gel is lovely to use and I like to keep mine in the fridge because I find if it is cold when it is applied to my skin then this is even more soothing and it actually feels much better than if it is at room temperature. This ... more

What is it for? Aloe Vera has long been used for many medicinal purposes, in this case the aloe vera in the form of gel is mostly used to treat scars (from burns etc), strectch marks, dry skin and skin irritations due to bio active skin treatment. I found this product was very effective against dryskin and acted as an intense moisturiser, also when used on skin which had recently/ previously been burnt - soothing the skin and it helped to prevent scarring. Application The aloe vera gel is in a clear gelatinous like form, which may feel a bit strange to apply. It is quick and simply to apply ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a little pricey

I first purchased Holland and Barret’s Aloe Vera gel many years ago when recommended by a friend to soothe an annoying and itchy blotch that had appeared on my hands. I have since repurchased several times and used to treat other such ailments as well as to just keep my hands soft and cared for. A 200ml tube of this currently costs £5.99 in Holland and Barrett (but it is also currently in a ‘buy one get one half price’ promotion – March 2012). The tube is a plastic squeezy tube that stands on it’s green cap – so when you want the gel, it flows out quite freely. The gel itself is clear and ... more
