Holland's pies are produced in their North of England Bakery at Baxenden Lancashire,
I'm Midlands girl brought up in Stoke-on-Trent, and have been brought up on a rival local Bakery pies and pasties, but over the past few years Holland's have been slowly but surely creeping into our store's and chip shops.
I was a bit hesitant to try them at first, scared of change etc, but I should never of worried. Their pies are really tasty from the pastry ... ...looking products, I've yet to have one badly baked, they always look pleasing to the eye, and smell like fresh home cooked baking should do.
The fillings regardless of what you choose, from Meat and Potato, Steak, or Meat puddings etc, are always full of tasty succulent meats, rich gravy and soft potato that melts in the mouth a real pleasure on their own or part of a more substantial meal.
They also offer a full array of frozen goods, which again ...

Advantages: Fits in your pocket Disadvantages: Too much salt
...In my personal opinion the Hollands pies are one of the worst I have tasted. To start with, the pastry is very thin, but has the texture of plastic. The las flavour one I tried was the meat and potato, which tasted unbelievably salty. It was also very small compared to other pies I usually go for. The potatoes in the pie were quite nice and soft but you couldn't really taste the meat due to the salt levels attacking your taste buds. I have read other ...

Advantages: A Pastry That Doesnt Go Soggy In The Microwave Disadvantages: None
...I was already familiar with Hollandspies as I like all their pastrys, but sadly, I cannot buy them where I live.
One day, in my local Asda supermarket, I noticed the name Hollands, peering at me in the chilled section, Hollands had introduced a new line, which I have not seen before.
They had introduced 2 new savoury slices which came in 2 x fillings, steak or chicken tikka, the slices are individually wrapped in a cardboard box, both priced at just a £1.
I knew of all their products, as they have been bakers for many years and is a trusted name, but this was new, so I bought the steak slice. The filling had lots of succlent meat inside, and the pastry was very nice too.
You can heat them in the oven, or the microwave, I chose the microwave and with most pastrysI have warmed up in a microwave always end...

Advantages: Vegetarian pizza Disadvantages: Not for meat lovers1
...be just as good as a fresh, as they are frozen very quickly with the vegetables in tip top condition.
Where can you buy it and how much?
****************************************
Tesco, Somerfield and Asda all seem to stock Goodfella's pizzas and sometimes have them on special offer. As you would expect, they are stocked in the freezer section with other pizzas. Presently you can snap up a Goodfella's Delicia Mediterranean Pizza for £1in Asda. Yes, that is right for £1! Normally it's nearer £2 in other stores.
Who are Goodfella's?
***********************
The range of Goodfella pizza's are made by Northern Foods, they mainly make Pizza, Biscuits, Ready Meals, Sandwiches and salads and Christmas Puddings. I admit I didn't realise they produce Fox's biscuits, Holland's Pies, Dalepak etc and also supply Asda, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons...

I first saw the film, Mr Holland’s Opus, when it was released in 1995. My three children and myself were all taking piano lessons at the time and were all eager to watch this. As I was contemplating writing the review this morning, I asked my son (just... more
I started another review about Gordon Ramsay with the words "love him or loathe him…" To be honest I was fairly indifferent to him. I like much of the food that he produces, I think he can be fairly honest, but also think he comes across as arrogant and... more
