Review of The Mary Magdalene Tradition: Witness and Counter-witness in Early Christian Communities - Holly E. Hearon by frkurt

Advantages: Good information, well researched
Disadvantages: -

...The primary surprise awaiting the reader of 'The Mary Magdalene Tradition: Witnesss and Counter-Witness in Early Christian Communities' is that it is not a book about Mary Magdalene. While Mary Magdalene features as a character of importance in the text of Holly Hearon, professor of New Testament studies at my seminary, this is not a biography or history book on Magdalene, but rather on the impact that the primary stories of Mary Magdalene - the post-resurrection stories (and peripherally related, other stories of Magdalene showing her prominence among the followers of Jesus) - have on the early Christian community and Christian development. Hearon and Wire examine the issues following multiple strategies that look at historical, textual, linguistic, ideological, and current readership concerns. Finally, the authors invite the readers to take these things into consideration and ‘revision ourselves differently: not as exploited workers in the patriarchal household, but as the hands of God who promises a new economy for the household of God.’... Advantages: Exciting, Different, It will get you hooked
Disadvantages: Not much to read in the book after you've read online

...What is Hollys Inbox? Hollys Inbox has been compared to Bridget Jones's Diary and is the new "Chick Lit". Hollys Inbox was launched in February 2007 and has been a hit all over the world with thousands of reader's logging in from Germany, America, Australia etc. The story starts with Holly's first day at Huerst and Wright, a busy investment bank in London, as a Receptionist. Holly really struggles when she starts as she hasn't any previous experience in this role before and her new Colleague, Patricia, isn't helpful in the slightest. The story begins detailing the hard time Holly is having at her new work with Patricia, although, they soon form a fantastic friendship throughout the novel. Holly receives e-mails on a daily basis from her best friend Jason, her ex Colleague at a nearby Hotel. As well as Jason's e-mails, Holly receives e... Read review
