Advantages: Great Looks, Ease of Use and Set-up, brilliant picture and sound quality Disadvantages: Cheap looking HDMI Cable
...for the umpteenth time)
VERY EXPENSIVE up to 4 x the price of a HD DVD player
The backing is huge with the likes of Samsung, Sony, Philips, Pioneer, Panasonic, Hitachi, Sharp, Dell and LG all giving it the thumbs up.
HD DVD
The GOOD
Much cheaper and easier to manufacture, Excellent quality on even the early disks.
The BAD
About half the storage spave of Blu Ray
Limited choice of players
Not as much support from Hollywood studios (This could very well as none of the Hollywood studios have ruled out producing HD DVDs)

SCREEN FORMAT:
If set to AUTO and you receive transmissions in WSS Format (Wide Screen Signaling) then all of your pictures will jump out from the normal 4.3 compression - that is normal telly size to 16.9 "Big Mutha" size!
If you do not get WSS, then screen format PANORAMIC will adequately emulate "Big Mutha" size!
Yawn! other formats, 16.9 L, for this read "Really Big Mutha", 14.9L, I have no idea why you would want any of these!
Lastly SUBTITLES for viewing... you tell me, no prizes.
ANY DISADVANTAGES?
In some screen shots, people look wider than they would appear normally, my wife loves this because "Steps" and "S Club 7" look positivly fatter! I love it because Kylie, ahem well there is more...
