The HOLUX GPSlim240 Bluetooth GPS receiver is a fully integrated GPS receiver. It includes a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, GPS antenna, and Bluetooth connectivity. It also incorporates a third-generation chipset designed by America's SiRF Technology for low power consumption. All features are fully integrated into one unit to meet the rigorous demands of consumer's professional and personal needs. GPSlim240 is a dual-function GPS receiver. Not only does it transmit satellite data through a PDA or notebook with Bluetooth interface, but it is also a traditional GPS receiver that can deliver a satellite signal through a data cable to a device without Bluetooth interface. The compact, stylish and handy GPSlim240 is easy to carry and can be worn across the chest. It attracts modern young women and young urban professionals who pay attention to their personal style. This device meets a range of needs such as car navigation, security, mapping, surveying, and agricultural applications. To use the device, all you need to do is to face the sky. It communicates with other electronic utilities via Bluetooth, USB-compliant interface, and has a built-in rechargeable battery to save such satellite data as the status of satellite signal, the last location, and date and time of previous use. With low power consumption, GPSlim240 tracks 20 satellites at a time, re-acquires the satellite signal every tenth of a second and updates position data once a second. The power saving mode (Trickle-Power) allows the unit to operate a fraction of the time. It also provides a time and position fix function (Push-to-Fix) that will switch on the unit at a designated time, even when the receiver stays off.
Advantages: light, portable, good reception, accutate Disadvantages: none
...A slim GPSReceiver that connect to your device using 'Bluetooth' a handy product that will enable your smartphone or windows mobile phone to connect to the GPS satalite network for trip guidence and other similar sat-nav tasks.
I have used this with my O2 XDA mini phone and found it to be very reliable. I loaded the Destinator sat-nav software onto my phone, launched the application and swithched on the Holuxreceiver and once i had set up the pairing in my phone it was good to go!
Reception was excellent and accuracy very good. In fact because it is so portable i was able to compare it with my friends Pergout car's factory fitted sat-nav and it beat it for accuracy hands down.
I also use it with some Geocaching software for paperless caching - look up Geocaching on google if you want to know what it is?
Some phones now have...

Advantages: Bluetooth links in a flash, GPS links to satellite in a few seconds. Disadvantages: Its a separate unit so there's two things to carry about.
...I dont have a 20channelreceiver however I do have a 12 channelreceiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes.
The GPSreceiver looks identical to the 20channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong.
It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! It does link...

...****** Introduction ******
Welcome to my second review based around GPSreceivers even though this is my second review this product was actually the first GPSreceiver I purchased. I won't go into too much detail into the workings of GPS as I covered this in detail in my earlier review of the internet Bluetooth GPSreceiver( Why not take a look at this review go on you know you want to).GPS basically uses a series of satellites that orbit the planet to triangulate your position on the planet. A gpsreceiver reads the signal and with the use of navigation software (for example TomTom) and allows you to plan routes based on your current position and your destination.
