I dont have a 20channelreceiver however I do have a 12 channelreceiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes.
The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong.
It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! Advantages: light, portable, good reception, accutate Disadvantages: none
A slim GPS Receiver that connect to your device using 'Bluetooth' a handy product that will enable your smartphone or windows mobile phone to connect to the GPS satalite network for trip guidence and other similar sat-nav tasks.
I have used this with my O2 XDA mini phone and found it to be very reliable. I loaded the Destinator sat-nav software onto my phone, launched the application and swithched on the Holuxreceiver and once i had set up the pairing in my phone it was good to go!
Reception was excellent and accuracy very good. In fact because it is so portable i was able to compare it with my friends Pergout car's factory fitted sat-nav and it beat it for accuracy hands down.
I also use it with some Geocaching software for paperless caching - look up Geocaching on google if you want to know what it is?
Some phones now have ...
Advantages: Very fast connection speeds Disadvantages: None
After purchasing a Pocket PC (HP hx4700) mainly for use as a calender assistant and portable web browsing device, I soon discovered that it could also be used as a portable Sat Nav device as well, allowing applications such as Tomtom to be uploaded onto it, and for those who are interested in light aircraft flying, like me, memory map is fantastic aviation GPS program which can be used on using actual CAA aviation maps with GPS data overlay for flight planning and tracking purposes. The one extra hardware add-on which is needed to allow tomtom and memory map to function is a GPS receiver device. I had previously purchased a Compact Flash card extension GPS receiver which plugged into the Pocket PC's existing ports directly, unfortunately, it was very poor at satellite tracking and position locking, taking several minutes to lock-on to ...
