...we bought this dyson for our son's 2nd birthday as he has always wanted one and also to stop him from using the real one. it's a cute 2ft tall green and purple dc01 dyson vacuum. it comes in a small upright box and you must fit it yourself which is straight forward it takes 4x c batteries which lasts quite a while (depending on how long it is played with). it has a removeable box at the bottom of it so that you can throw away the little bits of dust, yes it sucks up a little bit through the hose. it also has 3 attachments too. it has two levels on it noise only or beads only (though the beads are quite noisy). the only thing that is dissapointing is that the beads stick to the cylinder with static and you have to turn the vacuum off and bang it on the floor for it to clear again, this happens alot actually and can get frustrating... ...I have used my DC01 for nearly 3 years now and it has proved to be efective and easy to maintain.After my Goblin packed up totally i decided to go and find a new hoover.The DC01 at the time was the most exspensive hoover £269.99 i thought paying £300 for a hoover did sound pretty silly at the time but it had to be a good one unlike my previous. I decided to part with the cash. i got it home and statred it up,it was just as noisy as my goblin but 10 times as powerfull.I have longhaired carpet , it was picking up muck that i guess has been there for years. i was so immpressed with my DC01. My DC01 has proved to be great value for money and so easy to maintain.2 fillters have to be changed evely month to keep up the effectivness of the hoover which can be bought from any good hoover repairs shop for around £8-9.My first fillter... Disadvantages: Blocks up Too easily, no revised part to fix, losing power slightly

..., and there is no revised part, so we're stuck with it. Probably because the DC01 is the original model, you should expect some design issues. I have looked at the later Dyson's, and this part has been radically redesigned. I've also noticed that the suction of the cleaner is not what it once was. 8 years ago it could practically suck a brick up, and while it still gets the job done, it's not quite the same. Again, I have used a DC07, and that was radically better than the DC01. I think the time is coming for my DC01 to be pensioned off onto the 2nd hand market, as I have just spent too much of my life unblocking that pipe! I will certainly buy another Dyson, as I have not found another brand who's cleaners come close to outperforming a Dyson, but I'll buy a much newer model, and I'll be checking carefully for narrow pipes which might cause blockages!...
